been a patron there since 1975
by chowhound16 at Citysearch
Ill tell ya in 1975 this place was awesome,What a treat it was .You were served a tripple relish tray with REAL italian bread upon the sit down. The place was all a buzz on the weekends .Music in the cozy bar. It felt more italian than it does now without being a bit pretenious.I believe it was more about the food then.Back then they had a rainbow trout pan seared ...my favorite.Other than that I got the cheatau briand, they sliced it at your table. You could call a week in advance and order a seafood feast.Ok but enough about the past. Now when I go there it seems like the food is not cooked from scratch like it was.The menu is all different. It jsut seems mediocre now but it is still good. The place seem to have gone a little generic more like an olive garden too bad.I challenge the cooks there to get out some of the 30 yr old menus and try to duplicate some of the old best sellers ..nothing remains the same .
Never had a bad meal

I have been going to cascones since i was a kid. I have never had a bad meal. I love the pasta, buth the filet is to die for
- Pros: The food and service and nice wine list
- Cons: they always run a wait on the weekend (make reserv
Horrible sauces and very pricey!
by carlysar74 at Citysearch
The mushrooms taste like they are from a can and the prices are a little higher than expected. The service was nothing to write home about, very stand-offish. The wine selection is great, but that won't get me back there again.
- Pros: Large wine selection
- Cons: Below average service, Horrible sauces
How can anyone not like this food

Cascone's is the one restaurant I miss the most since I left Kansas City. They make this dish that is angel hair pasta, peas, and a combo alfredo & tomato sauce. It is to die for!!!!!!!!! All of their dishes are good tho, they have been in business a long time and believe me there is a reason for it.... They know what they are doing! If you go anywhere to eat go here!!!!

This family run Italian eatery has made a name for itself with homemade Italian specialties since the 1950s.
Tomato sauce?????
by archil at Citysearch
How can an Italian Ristorante be considered good when it can't even prepare a good tomato sauce. Sure it may have the best veal pamesan, but if the meat sauce is a cheap maranara with a meatball thrown on top, it is not a good restaurant!
--a good sauce takes time and finesse.

Very attractive place with excellent food and professional friendly service. Good Northland location. Try the Veal Parmesan.
Best calamari EVER!
by e_stice at Citysearch
Cascone's is one of my favorite restaurants! I've never been to the other two locations, but this one is great. The calamari is the BEST I've had in KC, including Bugatti's and Italian Gardens. Cascone's is a great choice for traditional Italian food. Plus they have a swanky retro neon sign out front. (Actually, it's probably the original sign.)
- Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
Ben there, tried it, won't go back

Went to the once in Overland Park. Highly disappointed. Rude staff, overrated food and overpriced. At least Olive Garden's food is predictable. In fact, Olive Garden is at least 10 times better!!!
