One of the most romantic places in the midwest
by paigeh at Citysearch
The Plaza in Kansas City is so beautiful, to really understand what I mean, you'd have to go yourself. There are all kinds of restaurants and stores for everyones budget. There are also many events like the art fair, plaza lights, and literary fair. My personal favorite is when they put all the Christmas lights up in the plaza, it's so beautiful and romantic! You can go on carriage rides and gondola rides while you're there, and even shop! There's so much to that you can do there. I think it's a great date place, and a fantastic place to meet new people. I really haven't seen another city with something quite as entertaining/beautiful/eventful as the Plaza in Kansas City. The Cheesecake Factory is a great place to go get some food, they have spectacular service, and of course, great cheesecake.
- Pros: Beautiful, romantic, great for anything from dates to families to hanging out with friends, and there are many things to see and do
- Cons: Parking can be a hassle sometimes
What? No Tapas?

Commercial real estate developers are calling you to come to the plaza to buy whiskered jeans at The Gap (instead of The Gap in your own mall), and splurge at The Cheesecake Factory (instead of The Cheesecake Factory in your own neighborhood). Yes, you too can make the drive through holiday traffic to see the plaza light spectacle: single-bulb strings lining the bare minimum. Bewildering in the 1980's, the plaza has become obsolete since the opening of Town Center (Plaza South) and Zona Rosa (Plaza North). Keeping in line with America's aspiration to live, work, and play without driving more than 2.7 miles, the plaza stays ahead of the pack by luring drooling tourists who have yet to learn it's merely a Spanish facade concealing retail chains found in Anywhere, USA. Don't get me wrong, it's got it's highlights (Plaza III, Starker's Reserve, Halls). But please, curb your enthusiasm.
- Pros: Convenient for locals, Good rendezvous, Not much else in KC
- Cons: Homogenized, Parking, Not much else in KC
Chic shops, international restaurants and Spanish-style decor enrich the nation's first suburban shopping district.

In Short
Taking its style cues from Seville's vibrant marketplaces, the Plaza features large courtyards, tile roofs and stucco buildings. The Plaza sits beside a creek, adding a riverwalk to the mix. The Plaza's upscale shopping includes Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, FAO Schwartz and Saks Fifth Avenue. Also enjoy the open-air gallery, where you'll see fountains, statues, clock towers and colorful murals. After the stores are closed, the Plaza's restaurants and cafes stay open.
Pleasant and bland
by KCguy at Citysearch
The plaza is a charming place, one of the few places in KC where you can wander around, sit in a cafe and people watch. It is, however the epitome of someting I read somewhere once "cupcake land, where everything is pleasant and bland". There are other things in KC you need to seek out which are more interesting...events like the First Friday gallery walk in the Crossroads, museums and other cultural events like the symphony which are underrated.
- Pros: popular, Historic, Parking easy
- Cons: ubiquitous, Too many chains

The plaza?

I do not think that the country club plaza is the best place for when you are visiting KC. You can't cross the street w/o the fear of getting ran over by some crazy motorist speeding through the area.

- Pros: Nice Shops, nice area, Theatre
- Cons: Crowded, No parking, Expensive
booooring

The Country Club Plaza is nice, but how often can you visit here. It gets boring, and becomes a routine when the weather is decent. Winters(forget it) it gets horribly cold an unbearble to stroll down the streets. The Plaza isn't even big enough to surprisingly find a nice shop you'd never seen before.
Country Club Plaza is for everyone

It's hard to pick a best attraction -- interest levels are so varied. The Plaza, however, does have several things to choose from: wonderful designer stores, sporting/hardward stores, FAO Schwarz and several candy stores, movie theatres, boats and horse rides. Something here should appeal to almost everyone -- plus free parking garages. You don't find that in most cities! Many of the city's best restaurants are also located here.
- Pros: free parking, variety of stores
- Cons: traffic lights, stop signs
I like to drink...
by bluejeeptjdog at Citysearch
...a glass of red wine, while sitting on the 47th street side patio of the Classic Cup and watch the people go by. That's the Plaza!
