While Houstons has a nice atmosphere, I find the menu to be very basic. I have never had anything that really WOWed me, and for the price, i expect more. While i have never had a bad experience, it is just not a place I choose to go to unless my friends want to eat there. I feel there are better options nearby.
Roomy banquettes and hefty portions typify this polished American grill that's popular for business deals and special occasions.

In Short
Burnished brass and stained wood complement roughly mortared brick and the occasional plant. Amid ubiquitous earth tones, corporate types and small parties (celebrating or simply living large) occupy deep booths done up in fine upholstery and lit from above by pin spotlights. Burgers, prime rib and steaks are the specialties of the house, but the menu also includes salmon, salads, pork chops and roasted chicken.
Fantastic steak and potato meals with great service.

This is a great place to sit down and enjoy American food at its best. Nice middle-age crowd (but sometimes families bring the rug-rats and that is a downer, so don't go prior to 7pm). The plaza is fantastic and this is a great place to finish the day of shopping.
PS. The user MrnMrsRowe... they blow(e)... *snicker* :p
- Pros: Great steak (and believe it or not, fantastic ribs)
- Cons: Kids are taken there prior to 7pm for dinner sometimes... :(
Always a nice time

In reference to the previous review, Houston's is not a bar. It has a bar, but it's definitely not a bar. The dining room has subdued lighting in the evening, and never seems loud, even when the place is full. The comfy booths seem private, which makes this a nice spot for dinner with your significant other. The menu, while not too diverse, is fairly solid, and the steaks are great. Service was a bit lacking during my last visit but is generally above average.
- Pros: Nice ambience in dining room
- Cons: Long waits if you don't make reservations

I am fan of Houston's Restaurant. I especially love their Happy Hour special where you get appretizer half off. In addition, their maritini's are the greatest. They also have a chocolate martini that includes a Ding Dong. How can you not love that. They have great pasta dishes and I love their steaks. The place is very stylish. The wait staff are very friendly. It is pricey so I can not go there as much as I wish. The parking is not the best.

Straightforward American cooking such as hardwood-grilled choice steaks, aged prime rib, fresh fish filleted in-house, big burgers, knife and fork ribs, a selection of the freshest salads, sandwiches, seasonal vegetables and signature soups. Price range: $8-$26.
You have to get the strip

My husband and I love to get away for romantic nights at Houstons! The strip steak is to die for and if they don't have it on the menu just ask. The service has always been attentive but not annoying. The only con is that there is usually a long wait but your on the Plaza so you can go and explore.
- Pros: parking, the steak, romantic
- Cons: crowded

My wife and I have been dining at Houston's on the Plaza for 10 years of our 13 year marriage. We have had anything from a Great Steak & Prime Rib! dinner to a simple salad for a quick lunch (filling). I dont understand how Houston's can go unannouced on a Top 10. Best, steaks, spinach & artichoke, salads and serviced dinnersssss, we don't mind paying $60.00 for. For the money and quality of food and service I would recommend Houston's to a out-of-town guest above all others.
- Pros: great prices, good parking(garage), good waiters
- Cons: wait on Fri.Sat.nite, wait on Fri.Sat.nite, wait on Fri.Sat nite
