The Only spot to see Live Blues in K.C.

Blayney's is definetly the spot to see the best in Blues in Kansas City. The place was rock'n last weekend as we heard two awesome bands play downstairs. They also have a cool new Blayney's Irish Tavern were live accoustical music is played. Plus there is a deck, which is open on weekend only, that has live music starting at 8 p.m.-midnight. Anyone coming to Kansas City should definetly stop by this place.

• Cons: crowded

This bar calls itself "The Home of the Blues in Historic Westport" and that's pretty accurate.

There's a pretty steady flow of blues talent playing a night before moving on, in the genre's great tradition. It has a feeling of somewhere secret, because the bar is downstairs and most of it's made out of bricks--like someone's running a speakeasy out of their basement. The crowd really gets into the shows, forsaking seats to dance. No matter who's on the stage each night, there's usually a party atmosphere, and it's infectious.
