This is a lovely, hotel restaurant. We had Thanksgiving dinner there one year, and the food was outstanding as well as the service. They had an all you can eat chocolate bar, and I was in heaven. You'll enjoy this restaurant.

Yes the atmoshphere at the Resturant inside the Hyatt is nice...will give it kudos for this, but that is were the buck stops. It took approximately 25 minutes to place our drink order and about another 15 minutes to get the drinks. We were there for 40 minutes before we even had a chance to order our food. Our server was slower than slow and they were not even busy!! i have dined at fine resturants from NY to LA and this place came highly suggested. It was such a pricy dissappointment. I had a dish that included duck, chicken, and i believe a filet. Unfortunately everything was overcooked and very dry. I asked for medium rare on the filet and it was well done and then some. When i questioned the staff they claimed they would fix the problem and the second steak came out even more cooked than the first!! The chocalate bar was interesting but not good......overall i would tell people to run, run, run...to another of the great resturants in KC!!!
- Pros: the atmoshphere.....thats about it
- Cons: too many to list...ie overpriced, bad food, bad service, must i go on
It has lost a little zip!

I once had Skies listed as the best place to eat in the K.C. area, but have had a change of heart as of late! The last several times we have gone, the food has been very very bland. The service has always been great, but other than cocktails and the great view of K.C., I don't think I'll be back for the food anytime soon!
At $18.00-$38.00 and entree, you should expect more.
- Pros: Revolving restaurant, service, great drinks
- Cons: Bland food

My fiance took me here the night he proposed. The food, atmosphere and service were wonderful. The duck was mouth watering and the chocolate bar was divine. We will definitely be visiting the Peppercorn for years to come!
- Pros: Attentive Service, Delicious Food, Romantic Atmosphere

The service left something to be desired here. It took our server about 10 minutes to even GREET US, and another 15 to bring WATER, let alone our wine. We spent $2000.00 on dinner here with a group of 8 of us, and just expected more. The steak was cooked incorrectly, the server was brash and abrasive and obviously didn't want to be there, and we just felt like we were treated terribly for someplace that has such a stellar reputation. I will NOT go back, ever. Nor will any of my mates who dined with me that evening. A chunk of change wasted on a lackluster event.
- Pros: view
- Cons: service, food, price

I have been to Skies a few different times and have always had a wonderful time. Sure, the prices are a little higher than some establishments, but the view is phenomenal. It's not just a view for the visitors, but it's great to those of us from KC as well. The service you receive from the staff is excellent and the waiters/waitresses really know their stuff. If you're not sure what wine would taste great with your meal, they can definately help you out. Honestly, I have never been sorry after eating there and I will continue to visit Skies whenever I want pampered.
Formidable city views, fetching design and reliable modern dishes make this revolving restaurant a popular special-occasion spot.

The Scene
The view is the marquee draw at this upscale revolving restaurant some 40 stories up in the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. Offering unparalleled panoramas of Kansas City and beyond, the eatery draws couples and groups eager for a romantic evening or sophisticated, yet unstuffy, dining experience. The interior is dimly lit and fed by soothing piano music from the nearby lounge (which is also on the revolving carousel). Modern tables--with sleek Scandinavian-looking dinnerware and glasses--lend a contemporary elegance.
The Food
The streamlined menu doesn't overwhelm diners with choices. Starters include a magnificently plump and fresh crab cake served with piquant oils and crunchy asparagus set off against soft blini and a sweet, light gravy. The grilled red snapper is as hearty as beef, though it could use some jazz to offset its mildness. The filet mignon is textbook: generous and soft, served with a delicate goat cheese sauce.
Gimmicky fun, good food

The whole spinning restaurant is gimmicky but fun. We have always found the food better than the reviews would indicate, and the service has always been great ... hey, it's in the Hyatt. I recommend going with the chef's special ... I've always liked whatever it was, and never felt like it was leftovers they were hustling out of the kitchen. :-)

I've been to Peppercorn Duck many times over the last 25 years and it has always been wonderful. The attentiveness of the wait staff, the perfect meal and the wonderful chocolate bar at the end. Along with the rose and chocolate covered strawberry -- who could complain!
- Pros: Good parking, Excellent service
