Vintage feel, treated like royalty
by danigirl852 at Citysearch
I snaged a great deal on a room and loved every minute of it. The hotel seemed pretty empty and the front desk staff very helpful. Adressing me as Ms. almost like I was a princess. The bed was SO comfortable and the room was exqusite! It was too bad I could only stay one night. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a nice hotel to relax and get away.
- Pros: Fluffy pillows and great feel.
- Cons: Maid came at 8:15!

Swanky hotel brings urban chic to Kansas City with a hip atmosphere and full amenities.
Wonderful attention to detail!

We stayed at the Hotel Phillips for a weekend get away. We loved the art deco interior and beautiful lobby which greets you upon entering. The attention to detail is wonderful, down to the aveda bath products and the service is attentive from the friendly and professional front desk staff to the bellmen. The bed was extremely comfortable with a plush comforter and down pillows. I highly recommend staying here to anyone who wants a luxurious and relaxing time away!
- Pros: Service, Luxurious Beds, Decor
- Cons: Valet Parking Only
Art Deco Excellence!
by HotelReview at Citysearch
One of Kansas City's most beautiful examples of Art Deco Architecture has been born again at the Hotel Phillips House. This downtown hotel is once again one of Kansas City's finest. Where other historic hotels typically have small rooms and baths, these will surprise you in their spaciousness. Though it's puzzling with such large rooms why the current reincarnation failed to set aside any two-bedded rooms, all rooms are one-bedded kings. The two-story lobby is breathtaking and the lower level, formal dinning room is very elegant and romantic. The 12st bar is casual and fun but sometimes can offer bad surburban (garage band) entertainment. The Hotel Phillips House failures in the past have always been bad management rather than the physical property itself. Let's hope this time around a quality operator is more pemanent, for the Phillips House deserves nothing less.
- Pros: Architecture, Romantic, Downtown
- Cons: Only King Bedded Rms
The "Big City" in KC

Fantastic view of the old (and soon to be new) downtown. Did the romance package ... rode the old "cage" elevator to a beautiful room, with waiting roses, chocolates, champagne ... really wow-ed the little lady. Walking distance to a jazz concert, and great steaks downstairs. This is the perfect place to getaway to the city ... and know that you aren't in the suburbs.
Use the valet parking, or you may never see your car again.
- Pros: View, Location, Big Rooms
