Very Good
by flowergirls
I had zarda's at my husband's company event. It was so good that I had to eat it again. Their beans are the best in KC area and the BBQ really good! can't wait to go again.
- Pros: The food
- Cons: Staff are teeny boppers
Good Tasty BBQ

The hickory smoke greeted us, and friendly counter help. My cousin says that they are a great caterer -- we just had a dine in experience. The salad bar was fresh looking (man cannot live on bbq alone). Free refills, that's a plus.
The chicken was awesome, the smoked sausage was really thin and outstanding. My brother said his brisket was lean and tender - something he stops in for every week.
There were a lot of sauce options, but we didn't try them all... we did like the onion rings and their cheesy corn.
- Pros: Nice service
Best Bar-B-Q

When my brothers come in from San Diego, or parents from Yuma, Az. they all ask for Zarda's. Plus every Mothers Day I usually send her a "care package" from Zarda's
- Pros: Just good ole ribs
- Cons: Not hot on the ambience
Hearty barbecue dishes and sides served in a casual family setting.

The Scene
The spacious dining room is decorated in a Western motif, including dark wood paneling and wagon-wheel lights. Even if the place looks packed, your wait at the counter to order is minimal.
The Food
Sandwiches range from regular to large to the "round-up" size, and plates come with fries and a side. The sausage is very thinly sliced and quite tasty. For those who can't decide between ribs and burnt ends, rib trimmin's--smaller than a rib, bigger than an end--are a nice compromise. In addition to Zarda's original sauce, which is good, albeit a bit sweet, a sweet and smoky hickory-flavored sauce is also available. Fried sides, including mushrooms, cauliflower and jalapeno poppers, are surprisingly non-greasy, and the onion rings contain thick slabs of sweet, flavorful onion. The delicious beans contain chunks of barbecued meat, and the coleslaw is slightly sweet and lightly coated with poppyseed vinaigrette.
