Just Average
by pambogar at Citysearch
I disagree with the other reviewers. This is just an average place and way out of the way. Too much attitude and way over-priced.
Just a So-So Experience
by CraigNovack at Citysearch
I could get more for my buck elsewhere. The service was So-So and for what I paid I had much higher expectations.
- Pros: It has the pretty factor
- Cons: Pricing

Worst Customer Service!!!!
by Tara7722 at Citysearch
DO NOT GO HERE!!! I have had the worst experience with this salon over the past 2 days. I was scheduled for an appointment at 2:15 yesterday. I arrived at 2:05 (plenty early) and checked in. I sat in the waiting area for about 30 minutes. When I went to double-check at the counter, it turns out that they had marked me as a "no show" instead of checking me in!!! It seems that my hair stylist had left to go to lunch and there was no one else that could take me yesterday.
With hesitation, I rescheduled for today, and asked for one of the managers to call me to discuss a reduction in price due to the numerous mistakes made by their staff. I went through the entire day today with no phone call from a manager and when I showed up at my appointment, the management was gone for the day and had left no information in response to my situation. When the manager was called, she was only willing to give me 20% off (which is the same as all their coupons so not a real discount). I walked out right then and there and vowed to not go back (and to tell all of you not to either). So, save yourself some aggravation and just don't even think about calling this salon!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Staff, Customer Service, Management
Love My Hair!!
by curlyq13 at Citysearch
Mickey is the best hairstylist I've EVER had. My daughters and I all have curly hair, and each of us want to never go anywhere else. My oldest daughter has thick course curly hair and my younger daughter has softer curls like mine. Anyone who has curls knows how risky a new-doo can be. But Mickey listened to what we wanted and made great suggestions. Wish I had taken before photos, to compare to the after photos we took, what a difference. We recently went to the new location at Oak Park Mall. You can make a nice afternoon getting pampered and do a little shopping to show off your stuff. It's definitely not a place where you immediately put your hair in a ponytail after you leave. The salon is really pretty and the staff makes you feel welcome. I also had a facial once too at the Lenexa location. Can't wait to go again!
- Pros: Parking, Experience, Professional Atmosphere
worth the drive
by dsef at Citysearch
I love Par Exsalonce! I make a drive of over 60 miles just to come to this salon for my services. I am not an easy person to please and after most haircuts and colors I am very unhappy. Everyone at the salon is so friendly and professional. The stylists listen to what I want. I am always thrilled with my color and cut. When I leave the salon, I usually go shopping since I have made such a long drive. People will stop me to tell me they love my hair and where do I get it done! I am looking forward to trying the new shop in Oak Park Mall as it will be one-stop for everything for me. I am sure the service will be just as great. I would highly recommend Par Exsalonce to anyone.
- Pros: Fabulous service
- Cons: wish they were closer
wonderful experience

I have been waiting for an upscale salon to come in at the mall for some time. That way I could leave the mall with everything I needed to look fabulous all the time (clothes and hair in one place! Dream come true) I walked out of Nordstorms recently and noticed a new salon had moved in. When I saw it was Par Exsalonce I hurried in to make my appointment. I had been to the spa and absolutely loved it . I have been to others and the experience just isn't the same anywhere else. They really know how to create a divine atmosphere. I got the same relaxation experience at the mall even though they were just doing my hair. They massaged my shoulders and scalp before beginning with the service. I had been going to the same place for years for my hair and finally I have found a place that gives me exactly what I want. To top it all off, she showed me how to achieve the same look at home! My hair has always been rather difficult to manage as it is very thick and wavy. I never knew what to do with it. I'm so happy that I know how to make my hair look great on a daily basis now. Everyone was so helpful and very pleasant to be around. The front desk girls were great about helping me understand what products that would work best not only for my hair but for my skin as well. And they weren't just feeding me what I wanted to hear! As it turns out, these products really do work perfectly for me! Its weird to be this excited for my next haircut but I suppose its a good thing.
- Pros: Great Service, great experience, wonderful results
An Amazing Experience!!
by LeRenard at Citysearch
After my experience here I felt compelled to write about it. I work in a business that sends me across the country regularly but I always look forward to coming to Kansas City just because of this place. I was first introduced to Par Exsalonce by one of the locals I work with when she arranged for us to have an all day Spa experience. We were to have a massage, a facial, a manicure and pedicure and then finish the day by having our hair styled for a night out on the town. Now, I have been to salons and spas from Los Angeles to New York City so you can imagine my surprise when I had my best experience in the Midwest! They started me off with a warm foot soak in their relaxation room and gave me a cup of their hot aveda tea. I could hardly carry on a conversation with my friend I was so relaxed. My massage therapist came to retrieve me from the relaxation room and then we started the services for the day. I think I was drooling during the massage. By the time we went to have our hair styled, I was in a kind of daze. I was surprised to find that I wasn't done being pampered. I got a scalp and neck massage before the stylist shampooed my hair and a hand massage while she styled it. When I left, not only did I look my best, but I felt my best. The price was definitely worth the service and a great deal when I compare it to other salons of the same caliber on the West Coast. Every time I come back to Kansas City, I make sure to make a stop in here before I head back to the hustle and bustle of the coast.
- Pros: Great atmostphere, very talented and polite staff
- Cons: Can be hard to get in if appointment isn't made ahead of time
Salon going downhill
by megooo at Citysearch
I completely agree with the poster below me. Par Exsalonce is over-priced, and with the prices you would expect awesome service, right? Wrong! My stylist left and I decided to stay because of the location. Well, I went in for my haircut, and the woman who cut my hair was texting and receiving text messages throughout my haircut. I also called previously and scheduled a brow wax as well....imagine my surprise when my STYLIST did my brow wax in the shampoo bowl with my wet hair. I kid you not. It took all of two minutes and cost 20.00. And she never had me look at it to see if I liked either my brows or my haircut when she was done. I've also tried to call management, and no one has called back. Believe me, even though I have gone to Par Exsalonce for years, I will never go back. And I will tell all of my friends/colleagues/acquaintances the same thing.
- Pros: Good location
- Cons: horrible staff, horrible service, over-priced, stylists talk poorly about the job
EXspensive, EXtremely disappointing EXperience at Par EXsalonce
by itsadogslife at Citysearch
I paid over $200 for a cut and color at Par Exsalonce. The woman who cut my hair ignored my request to keep my hair shoulder length. When I got home, I wondered why the hair on the right back side of my head was flipping out. I realized then that she had made a serious mistake when cutting my hair. The next week, I went to a different salon/hairdresser. She told me that it will take six months to grow out the mistake the Par Exsalonce hairdresser made. When I called Par Exsalonce to share my concerns, they told me a manager would call me back. Still waiting for that call, but not holding my breath!
Oh and BTW--the color was brassy and ugly. Thankfully, my new hairdresser was able to fix that.
horrible hair!
