A Real Disappointment
by TDLS at Citysearch
Our first clue should have been that they were empty on a nice Wednesday night at 7pm
Even though the back dining room with a view of the bar was empty they took our party of 11 downstairs. Someone said they are hding us. And it worked. Their servers kept losing us. You know it is abad when the server tells you 'it can take a while to get drink orders down here.
That was after they had 11 of us sit at a table for 8 in a dark room
The first drink order was olaced 15 minutes after we arrived. The drinks came in slowly after another 15 minutes. We ordered 5 appetizers which should have been served hot. They arrived when the first round was empty - cold. The servers reaction was "oh".
We ordered dinner one hour after we were first wedged into the room (and 45 minutes after we saw another larger room next to us- and empty but which the manager later said would have been a hassle to move us."
It then took an hour and 40 minutes until dinner arrived. Of the 11, 6 thought the food was mediocre. That incldues me - my rare Ahi tuna was cold but well-done. 3 rated the food as good (two of them ordered steaks well-done so they like shoe leather.) 2 rated the food as awful but they were too tired to wait to send it back.
The manager replaced the server but it was too late. They agreed to waive the automatic 18% service charge since there was no service.
We will not be back.
- Pros: Not Crowded
- Cons: Service (or lack thereof)
A Nicely Tucked Away Dinning Experience
by wavecrash at Citysearch
Out here on business, this is a nice place to grab a KC Strip steak and Disarrano on the rocks. I like trains, so the huge train track model in fron the restaurant was a plus. Staff was friendly, but not too friendly to disturb you eating your meal, or interuppting your phone call to the office.
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Location, Low Key
- Cons: Parking, No Outdoor Sign
Very unique ambiance

What unique experience. We walked over from the covered pedestrian walkway and never having been in Union Station before we were impressed. Once inside the restaurant we noticed that it had many cozy nooks and even the tables next to each other seemed secluded. We both had the Tuna and were amazed at how good it was. We would definitely visit again and highly recommend anyone looking for a romantic spot or just a really nice experience visit Pierponts.
- Pros: Very secluded and great atmosphere
Very Good

Wife and I recently ate at Pierpont's and was delighted. The food and service was great. We both had the smaller filet with crab and asparagus toppings. Wonderful. We took our own wines into the restaurant and the wine stewart was very helpful and knowledgeable on the wines presented. Ambience and decor was great. Service from the wait staff was superior. My wife had a draft of air coming from the floor onto her legs. The wait staff got her a tablecloth to wrap around her legs. This place is a true find.
- Pros: Steaks, wine list, sevice
- Cons: nothing

We had the best filet's we've ever had - mind-blowingly good. Great atmosphere and excellent service. We had the 6 course Grand Prix dinner and it was outstanding. Only complaint was the waiter brought our dishes out a little too quick sometimes. My wife did not have time to finish her salad before the filet arrived. Chocolate Tort dessert was superb and the chosen wines matched everything perfectly. Definitely recommend for someone looking for a special occasion location for fine dining.
- Pros: Desserts, Wine List, Filets
- Cons: Courses too fast
Wow

This place is defiantly a restaurant worthy of all the praise. I ordered the blue crab and sweet corn bisque soup with the halibut entree. Both could be the best dishes I've ever had! The service was extremely attentive and courteous. To top off the entire experience was the decor - very beautiful. To think I was told by a local that there aren't any really good restaurants around.... sheesh.
- Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
- Cons: Nothing!
Steak and seafood: Get your fill of either at this timeless restaurant.

The Scene
Nestled in a nook of the renovated train station, the mahogany and red-leather booths offer the most intimate of romancing. The bar back, mahogany as well, is an impressive several stories tall, and only accessible with a library ladder. The high ceilings are accented with chandeliers.
The Food
The cuisine compliments the setting, while the presentation is as flawless as the architecture. A wedge of iceberg lettuce is transformed into an artistic, savory starter with lemon-pepper dressing in the Westport wedge salad. Blue crab and sweet corn bisque is also a creamy and rich way to start the meal. The Kansas City strip steak with pinot noir demi-glace is tender and gives praise to its name. The grilled Atlantic salmon is served with roasted tomato pesto and herbed risotto cake.
Excellent

You can't beat the quality of the food or service unless you spend a lot more money. However, they made a HUGE mistake when they took the Dijon Mustand and Brown Sugar glazed steak off the menu and moved it to the Hereford House.
Best food in KC

This is the best resturant in Kansas City. Not that expensive either. Whenever I have a dissapointing (usually more expensive) meal somewhere else, I kick myself for not going to Pierponts. Always take out-of-towners there for the ambience. Check out the private party rooms downstairs for larger tables.
