Be careful of that dark haired bartender. She tried to short change me right off the bat. Music was good. Good crowd tightly packed. I have to agree about the wait staff.

Don't go here. Stuck up wait staff, while slightly attractive the air of "exclusiveness" was unnecessary. If you do attend, the music will be grand - best live stuff I've heard in quite awhile. Don't bother tipping for the service, keep the music in mind. Have not been in for dinner, menu looked awesome.

- Cons: Wait staff below par, by a long shot.
Exceptional Food

The food was exceptional. I had the mediterranean chicken and pasta and would have went there just for the meal. The serving size was good, but it was pricey. The music was great, I loved Ida McBeth!! The band was on point and together. I had called a couple of days before to make reservations for 9 and they somehow wrote down 8 so we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table to open up. Next time I will double check the reservations. BUT, Overall it was a pleasant experience. We will be going again.

Restaurant and bar features live music everyday and offers serves seafood, poultry, steaks and pasta dishes.

Many trips from Minneapolis to Kansas City and this is a mandatory stop. Food is better than average, the food, wine and drink prices are comparable to other good music venues and the atmosphere is definitely romantic. There is no dance floor but I asked the owner if we could dance by our table and was told of course you can if the music moves you and it always does. Slow sensual dancing by our table to excellent music has always provided me and my lady a wonderful means to feel the music between courses. The wait staff has always been attentive and professional.
My lady and I have never been disappointed and so long as the experience is what we have come to expect at what we consider to be one of the top 5 locations where we go to hear Jazz when we travel throughout the US we will always include this stop while we are in Kansas City and we make that trip 5-8 times each year.
The walking proximity to Country Club makes for a wonderfully romantic weekend date. A hand in hand evening stroll window shopping, enjoying the street performers, and people watching in the Plaza, Dinner, Dancing and Fine Music at Jardines and desert to end the night from the Cheese Cake Factory before returning to our hotel. It really DOES'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT.

So having lived in KC for 5 years I decided I should finally check this place out. I fell in love immediately. They have amazing talent, Angela Higgenbothem, Dave Stephens 5, a slew of others. Their drinks are pricey but not overly so for their nearly plaza location and the crowd is always looking to have a good time. I've found it to be a very social environment, though chatting can be difficult when the live music is going but there are almost always friendly faces around. The wait staff is good, seating is fairly prompt even when they're packed which they usually are and there isn't a bad seat in the house I don't think. The food is really good, if expensive, but you can escape there without totally breaking the bank. Jardines seems to offer up a lot of diversity too. They are open to a wide range of people with a wide range of interests. My friends and I from the college up the street like to go there as a hang out for a few drinks and at the same time, I found it a perfectly appropriate place to take my mom for a late late night Mother's Day nightcap. You get everyone from art kids to older couples and everything in between.
I highly highly recommend Jardines for a friday or saturday night out.

A great jazz club with better than average food and the best looking wait staff in KC.
The service is generally good but even if she is a bit slow you won't mind as long as you can look at her.
The place is packed on weekends or whenever Angela Higgenbottom sings. And the room has become a regular spot for the Cavern Club attracting 40-somethings and older who love the music of the Fab 4.

- Cons: pricey food, crowded
