Better than the other Pancake Place

Chubby's has the best pancakes in town. Everytime I have visitors from out of state, Chubby's is a must stop for pancakes and coffee. The waitresses are great. I grew up in California and I'm always reminded of home in the wee weekend hours with all the young people and their unconventional looks. It's great. Chubby's is the hangout spot after the clubs close to get a bite to eat. Their vegan sandwich is a winner. I've read that pedophiles work there. I'm pleased that Chubby's has stepped up to hire men coming out of prison. The only staff who have customer contact are the waitresses so parents do not have to worry about their children having contact with anyone other than the waitress. A pleased customer for the past 18 years.

Somebody's got a beef with Chubby's

Breakfast is great here! It is not gourmet food, but very good diner food. Very good liver and onions on tuesday. The poor service mentioned in some of the reviews bears no resemblance to the Chubby's that we continually frequent. The previous reviewers seem to have an aze to grind with everybody and everything. The owners Nick and Vito and their wait staff are friendly and courteous. Food is punctually served. One of the issues with the bathrooms is that this restaurant is open to all.... that means the homeless and down and out. I think that this is the reason the bathrooms need a bit more attention.

Worst Food and Service in Kansas City!!!

I can't believe this place is still open. There was human feces on the floor of the men's bathroom. And what's this I hear about Chubby's hiring PEDOPHILES?!! I saw in one of their reviews, that they have two guys named TOM CRAIN and DANIEL MARSH who are registered SEXUAL PREDATORS working in an environment that serves UNDERAGE CHILDREN!! I understand that NICK LABRUZZO is the owner and is a convicted felon.

What a dump!!!!!

I was in Chubby's last weekend. After what I saw, I wouldn't let an animal eat in that place. The people serving were absolutely disgusting. The waitresses dress like prostitutes. The cooks look like they just got released from PRISON. Their graveyard manager, some guy they call "IZZY" looks liked he hadn't taken a shower or brushed his teeth in two weeks. I just finished reading other review of this garbage dump. Is it really tru they have two guys there named TOM CRAIN and DANIEL MARSH who are PEDOPHILES?! I hope the Kansas City Star reads this and starts an investigation into theit hiring practices. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone except the FILTH I saw eating there. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

Most disgusting place I have ever seen

There must be a pattern with this place. I ate at Chubby's about two week's ago and I saw the last three reviews before I decided to weigh in on my experience. First of all, this place is absolutely deplorable in terms of cleanliness. The bathrooms are disgusting, the tables weren't wiped off and I too, saw the cooks touching food without gloves. I don't know who the owners are, other than the fact there is a reference to a guy named Nick LaBruzzo, who, from all accounts is a convicted felon. Maybe he didn't lean anything in prison except how to be a criminal. I also saw this guy who is their grave manager, some fat guy they call Izzy. I have never seen anything so deplorable try to pass for food. And the comment another person made of them hiring PEDOPHILES, I can tell you that as someone who is a practicing attorney, if law enforcement gets word of their hiring practices, these guys are in a lot of trouble, especially if these PEDOPHILES are coming in contact with underage children.

Worst Dining Experience I Have Ever Encountered

I ate at Chubby's last night. When I went into the men's bathroom, I saw a small dark animal crawling out of the toilet. I was sitting at the counter and had a direct view of the kitchen. The cooks weren't wearing gloves and were touching uncooked food with their bare hands. I saw one of the cooks wipe his nose with his hand and then reach into the refrigerator and take raw hamburger and place it on the grill. I read the two reviews from Amy Stewart and BIGBOY and I have to tell you, they couldn't be more correct. Their graveyard manager is named Izzy Spino. He is a low life dirt bag, who has a reputation of stealing from the owner, Nick LaBruzzo, who, by the way, is a convicted felon as pointed out by BIGBOY. And the employees that they have hired who are PEDOPHILES, are named Tom Crain and Daniel Marsh. There is no way any respectable patron would ever go to Chubby's, which is why they only cater to the low-life DIRT of the Midtown area. I can't believe that Kansas City allows a place like that to exist, other than the fact that gang-bangers, dealers, and prostitues have no other place to feed themselves!!

Customer Service FAIL!

This place is seriously lacking in the customer service department.

We had to wait almost an hour to get our food when it wasn't even busy. I asked to speak to the manager and he never came to the table. We could see him standing around up front doing nothing and then seating a table. I asked a second time to see the manager, saw our waitress go over to him and obviously talk about our table, and then he went off in the opposite direction. Not only did we have bad service, the manager wouldn't even come talk to us about the issues we were having with his restaurant. I've never seen anything like it.

Absolutely Horrible

I ate at Chubby's last weekend. The food is absolutely horrible. The service is worse. Their graveyard manager is a bigot. Worse than that; they hire pedophiles to cook and serve their food. Parents beware!!! If you bring your children to Chubby's, you are subjecting your kids to people who sodomize young children. They should be ashamed of themselves, but most criminal don't care what law abiding citizens think. Which leads me to my last point...The restaurant is owned by a convicted felon-Nick LaBruzzo.

POOR EVERYTHING

Stopped by for some takeout for lunch. Placed an empty beer bottle laying in the front in the trash and proceeded inside. I had three ladies TRY to take a simple order. My order was then placed incorrectly THREE times. I could here her calling my order back and it was wrong. Each time I corrected her and still she called my order wrong. I just waived her off and left. When I called the manager "N" he didn't seemed to think anything was wrong but that I was rude for asking my order to be correct. OMG I just wanted a bowl of soup. Not a difficult order. He said he was glad I left. So much for customer service. I had been a customer for about 20 years and after this display of poor service and horrible management I will never return.
