Step TwoPreparation. The client will come to the wrap appointment freshly bathed, without any lotions or perfumes on the body. Step ThreeSkin exfoliation. The m’lis wrap uses a transdermal cream to facilitate inch loss. When the skin is exfoliated w/ m’lis buff before the cream is applied, dead skin cells are removed, capillaries are dilated to help nutrients get to the cells, & the metabolism of the skin is activated. This increases the inch loss results obtained through the wrap.

Step SixWrap. Specialized plastic wrap is used to contour the body & to use pressure points in order to advance the working ability of the cream. Fat storage houses (cell chambers) are reduced, allowing the body’s own cleansing process to take over & eliminate excess fluids & waste materials from the body. Plastic wrap helps to hold body heat in, thus aiding the skin in absorption of the cream. The cream is formulated without alums or salts in order to prevent perspiration, ensuring that fluids & valuable minerals are not lost.
Step SevenRelaxation. Once the client is wrapped, they are reclined & able to relax for one hour, while the cream & wrap are put to work. The client is covered w/ a blanket to keep warm & maintain circulation at the skin level. Client should not get hot enough to sweat, as this will remove cream from the skin. Unlike a wrap using wet gauze, the client remains warm & comfortable throughout the process. A relaxing facial or reflexology treatment may be done during this time.
Step EightRemove & re-measure. The wrap is removed & the client is re-measured in exactly the same places as before. The measuring marks are still visible, so there is no doubt as to the accuracy of the inch loss achieved. “After” measurements are recorded & compared to “before” measurements. The inch loss results are totaled & recorded on the client progress chart. Client can see results on paper, as well as in the mirror.
Step NineComplete the treatment. The excess cream still on the skin is massaged in. Client should avoid showering for several hours after the treatment, as the cream will continue to produce results. Many clients report an additional inch-loss following the wrap. Because the skin-tightening results are not dependent on a water loss, but on the body’s own cleansing function, inch loss won’t return as liquids are taken into the body. In fact, the client should drink water immediately following the wrap to help flush out any released toxins or waste.

What Types of Veins Can You Treat at Reflections Body Solutions?We treat spider veins in the leg, face, neck & chest, which are caused by abnormal blood flow & weakening of the blood vessel wall in the affected veins. Any condition or activity that puts pressure on the veins – such as gaining weight or sitting or standing for prolonged periods – can contribute to their development. We do not treat varicose veins, which need to be evaluated by a vascular surgeon.
How Do Spider Veins & Varicose Veins Differ?Spider veins are small, red, blue or purple blood vessels that lie close to the skin. Known medically as telangiectasias or sunburst varicosities, spider veins are connected to the larger venous system, but are not an essential part of it, so health risks are not a major factor in spider vein removal. They can appear in a spider-like shape w/ a group of veins radiating outward from a dark central point. They may also appear as tiny branch-like shapes or as linear spider veins. Varicose veins are different from spider veins because they are larger, darker in color & tend to bulge. Varicose veins are also more likely to cause pain & be related to more serious vein disorders. Sclerotherapy can treat certain cases of varicose veins.
What Is Laser Vein Treatment?Using a laser, high intensity coherent pulses of light are targeted over the treatment area. The trapped blood inside the vein attracts the light. Absorption of the light energy causes the blood to be reabsorbed by the body, collapsing the vein. Lasers cannot be used to treat raised veins, however spider veins respond well to laser therapy. Laser therapy treatment is extremely safe & effective on leg veins, as well as veins visible on the face, neck & chest.
What Can I Expect During a Laser Vein Procedure?A pulse of light (laser) energy is delivered along the length of the vessel, larger veins first. You may experience a mild burning sensation w/ the pulse of the light. Laser vein therapy typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Because laser vein treatment works by causing the unwanted vein to break up & dissolve, resolution of the unwanted vein will take place over the course of several weeks.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?The number of treatments necessary depends on the number of vessels being treated, the color & size of those vessels, as well as your body's ability to heal. The majority of the treated vessels will be gone for good w/ one to three treatments. Treatments are in 8 week intervals. During your consultation, you will be given an estimate of the number of treatments required to obtain optimal results. In some cases new spider veins may appear, making additional treatments necessary.
What Can I Expect Post Laser Vain Treatment?Vigorous activities should be avoided in the first 24 hours after treatment. Redness & bruising around the treated areas is possible, & usually disappears after the first week. A tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks when larger veins are involved. Your results will be seen over several weeks as the vein breaks up & dissolves. Limiting sun exposure will greatly minimize the risk of complications.
What Is Sclerotherapy?During a sclerotherapy treatment a saline or chemical solution is injected into the vein, causing the vein to collapse & disappear from view.
What Can I Expect During a Sclerotherapy Treatment?A typical sclerotherapy treatment usually takes 15 to 45 minutes & the number of injections varies, depending on the extent of damage. While pulling the skin over the veins taut, your nurse will inject a saline or chemical solution into the vein. During the treatment, you may feel slight needle pricks & a mild burning sensation as the solution is injected into the vein. However, this sensation is relatively mild as the needle is so thin & the solution is so diluted that the pain is usually inconsequential. Once the treatment is complete, your nurse will apply a cotton ball & compression tape to the treatment area. You will be asked to wear tight-fitting compression hose for several days following treatment. The compression hose will help speed the healing process. After each treatment, the veins will continue to lighten. Generally, two to three treatments are required to achieve the desired results.
What Can I Expect Post Sclerotherapy Treatment?Most people are able to return to work & resume most activities immediately following treatment. You will be asked to wear compression hose for several days following the procedure. The compression hose help protect against blood clots & speed the healing process. In the days following treatment, veins may actually appear darker & more prominent than they did before the injection. This is completely normal & part of the healing process. As your body continues to heal, the veins will begin to lighten.
What Type of Results Can I Expect From Sclerotherapy Treatment?The results of sclerotherapy vary from person to person. Generally, treated veins will first darken & then lighten as the healing process continues. The healing process can take anywhere from two weeks to a month. After subsequent treatments veins will appear less visible or fade away completely. Depending on the severity of the treated veins, multiple treatments, scheduled at least one month apart, may be necessary to achieve the desired results.

How Are Chemical Peels Performed?The skin is thoroughly cleansed w/ an agent that removes excess oils & the eyes & hair are protected. One or more chemical solutions, such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid or carbolic acid (phenol), are applied to small areas on the skin. These applications produce a controlled wound, enabling new, regenerated skin to appear.
Preparing for a Chemical PeelPrior to the chemical peel, your medical professional may ask you to stop taking certain drugs & prepare your skin w/ topical preconditioning medications such as retin-a, renova, or glycolic acid. After the chemical peel, it's important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. If you have been prescribed oral antibiotics or an oral antiviral medicine, you should begin taking those as directed. Typically, the oral antibiotics are prescribed depending on the depth of the chemical peel. Remember to ask if you need to have someone drive you home.
What to Expect During the ProcedureDuring the procedure, most patients experience a warm to somewhat hot sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation.
