I brought several designer items to their store that were1 to 2 years old, worn maybe once, a few items had never been worn and I was told they passed on them because of the style and condition. I don't think that is the case. I think it was my ethnicity. This is the 3rd time I have tried selling items to them. Their sister-store Plato's closet is even worse! Maybe if I had a different complexion, long-flowing blonde hair and talked like a dippy valley girl, they would've gladly bought my items. Oh well, their loss. Items are selling on Ebay now and the rest will be donated to people who appreciate quality clothing.
VERY RUDE!!! DO NOT TRY TO SELL TO THEM! The lady was very rude. I had a container of clothes and she asked me if I knew what they bought and of course I wanted to say "I thought you bought clothes, duh!" but I told her no...she proceeded to go through my container and said that they will NOT buy anything that is over 1-1 1/2 years old and my stuff was too old for them to buy, however, she did buy a skirt that was ugly and very worn down... I wanted to tell her that the skirt was from 2004. She wouldn't buy my North Face Denali jacket but she would take a skirt that was 8 years old??? Go figure! She said that she wouldn't be able to sell the North Face...ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I put the North Face on craigslist and sold it for $50!! Her loss!
Horrible customer service!. I never write reviews, unless it is a place I love. However, this is an exception. I was so offended when I went there. I was not greeted when I walked in, unlike everyone who was 10 years older than me (I am 22). When I decided to sell my purses there, they were mishandled and described as "fake", well my credit card statements would highly disagree. Then the lady walked off after saying this! No "Sorry" or "Thanks for coming in". Now she was a Fake, faux tan and faux blonde hair who acted like she was so much better than me. I saw here acting this way with other customers as well, nose high in the air! I even over heard two girls talking and said that she was rude.
Has anyone else had this experience?. This is not an accusation that I hurl carelessly. When I say it, it is well warranted. Based on my experience, the resale shop, Clothes Mentor on 135th in Overland Park has at least one extraordinarily racist employee. I left feeling highly insulted.
