Not Recommended At All. I have had nothing but bad experiences at Island Tan. First off, the beds never got me as dark as I got other places even using a high end lotion purchased from them. My biggest complaint is billing. I confirmed multiple times, multiple ways that I was done tanning there and I continued to be charged for several months after that. I went in in person and over the phone to cancel my tanning services. I called several times to get the issue resolved and there is never a manager on duty. Once I finally got one, they weren't interested in taking the call. They were right next to the employee who took it and instead, the manager had me leave my name and the issue with the employee who answered the phone. This was extremely unprofessional, I would have liked to voice my concern to a manager and have them know the reason I will not be tanning there ever again. Do not give your bank information to Island, it will be abused.

Employee's STEAL from clients. Being a former employee at this place I continued to tan there for many years. Packages were priced decent and the employees USED to be very friendly. However, I have now discovered many bad experiences with this place and will never tan there again. After waiting for a bed I noticed employees not cleaning the bed properly, and letting clients into the room to tan before cleaning the beds. GROSS. I also left a very precious ring of mine in the room, came back for it 5 minutes later, no one else had tanned after me, the only person that had been in the room was the employee working, and my ring was gone. The owners did NOTHING to help the situtation, did not fire the employee, and I never got my ring back.

The prices aren't bad at all. They always have discounts. Clean happy environment.. I have tanned here ever since I can remember. The prices aren't bad at all. They always have discounts. The staff is nice and helpful. They also always have samples so you can try it before you buy a bottle. There is always have a yummy smelling candle burning and candies on the table while you wait. The owner also sells purses and earrings which are very cute. The beds are always clean and each room has a personal radio so you can chose what you listen to while you tan. I wouldn't trust/go anywhere else.

Poor service. I have been to a few salons in kansas city since I moved here and was not impressed with the staff. I only went one time and was not very satisfied. Could use some customer service training.

Also a little on the expensive side.

Excellent in every aspect!. The counter staff is courteous, knowledgable, and helpful. The beds are high quality, with a plentiful variety from which to choose. The bulbs are always "fresh." The shop is always incredibly clean. The package prices are average, but your dollar gets you greater-than-average product and service. Two thumbs way up!

Exceptional and Experienced Staff. There are many different tanning salons to choose from in the kansas city area, but The Tanning Zone has, by far, the cleanest and inviting atmosphere, cute, pleasant and fully knowledgable staff, and the best beds I've experienced ever.

As good as gold. I have tanned for many years. The salon atmosphere was great, and one of the cleanest salons I have seen. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable and well trained. Educated me on what beds were best for my skin type, and how to get the best tan. Great Specials! No other salon has made me feel more welcome. Plus its close to home, and other stores.

User review by sshinds. I like the Tanning Zone. I found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. The packages prices aren't the greatest, about middle of the road.

Not in the Zone. I tried the tanning zone and did not like the counter staff.

I did not feel they were the kind of salon that made me feel welcome.

Their packages were expensive. The only advantage was they were close

to my house.
