very poor for KC. this place is a huge disappointment. very over-rated. who cares if truman ate there. probably contributed to an early demise!

This steakhouse put the Martin City District on the map with their friendly service and meat-and-potatoes menu.. In Short
Family owned for more than 60 years, Kansas City appreciates this gem but out-of-towners make a point to visit, too, thanks to national publicity. USA Today declared Jess & Jim's one of the nation's top steakhouses. All beef is hand-cut and trimmed on the premises and ranges from 5-ounce filets to the 30-ounce porterhouse. Prime rib is served Sunday through Thursday, while pork chops, ham steaks, chicken and seafood round out the dinner menu. Burgers and sandwiches are popular on the lunch menu.

off the beaten path. It's a bit of a drive from downtown or OP but the food is very good, nothing pretensious here, if your looking for that look elsewhere, just a great steak cooked perfectly and served with a HUGE baked potato.

Expect to wait a bit if you go on a Friday or Saturday night

but usually the wait is no longer than 30 mins.

It is the best in KC. I have been going to Jess & Jims for over 20 years

I have moved out of the Kansas City Area and I have ordered Steaks from their web site and they were delivered right away. I have lived In Hawaii and now Califorinia and have passed the web site on to many who love to eat Jess & Jims Steaks. It is a great gift to people living all over. I have traveled all over the United States and I don't know where you can get such great steaks at such a great price!!!!! It get a ****

Big steak. One of the reasons I don't go to Outback to get a steak is because of their choice of cooking methods. Jess& Jim's servers their steak the same way, pan seared or flat top grill most likely. However, the steak comes out hot ready to rock with a man size potatoe. Everytime I'm there I just know that I have to have the 30 oz Porterhouse!

Service is decent, sometimes it can be a wait but its worth it, never really been disappointed. I like to get there early evening have a few drinks, enjoy the crowd and chat, wait for my steak. The place has this really down home feeling to it that you would expect from the midwest and no where else, but the wait staff all though sometimes old, are kind and humorus.

If you want a big ol' steak home- style its Jess&Jim's.

Best avoided. If you don't mind a train buzzing past several times during your meal and a place that looks a bit outdated, then the ambiance is fine. The filet I ordered did not taste high quality and was not cooked correctly. The service was mediocre.

Great Value. Jess & Jim's is the best value and quality for your money. Off the beaten track, it is not pretentious....just great food at reasonable prices served by friendly folks.

waited for nothing. Well if you catch this place on a slow night then you are in for a treat if you want good food in less than upscale ambience

lot of fun. Jess and Jims is like a trip back in time. Fun atmosphere and great steaks! It does need a little work on the side items.

Jess & Jim's No Way. The customer service at Jess & Jims was unbelievable terrible. For the prices, I would expect a much better cut of meat. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs!
