ANTIOCH MUSIC KC – I am a professional musician who is VERY particular about my horns. I recently took my tenor sax (a vintage 1927 gold-plated Conn) to Antioch Music Center JUST TO HAVE THE NECK CORK REPLACED, AND CHECKED FOR LEAKS... I was a little worried that my horn might be treated like a middle-school kid's "BUNDY" horn... but it was not. The neck cork was replaced, and a little "TWEAKING" was done to my 80 year old horn to fix the air leaks... and THAT WAS IT! ALL FOR UNDER $50. I APPRECIATE THAT I CAN GO TO A LOCAL MUSIC STORE AND HAVE WORK DSONE ON MY HORN AND IT WASN'T TREATED LIKE A STUDENT HORN!! THANKS!
Antioch Music Rocks :) – I don't know how you could not like the employees at Antioch Music. They are all very friendly and know what they're talking about. If you had a bad experience with anyone up there then you are obviously one of those "impossible to please" customers and complain about everything. Go somewhere else then! Antioch has been around for years. They're obviously doing something right if Guitar Center hasn't put them out of business. I don't really care for the big name brand shops. Support your local guys not the corporates!
Not sure how thy are still in business... – I really don't like leaving negative reviews, especially ones on a local business. That being said, I have been a customer and student at Antioch Music for 20 years. I started taking piano lessons when the store was at Antioch mall at age 9 and then moved on to drum lessons in middle school. Today I bypassed the musicians friend which happens to be conveniently located near my home to make a small purchase at a locally owned music store . After arriving at Antioch music I realized that the selection of drum sticks were very limited and very overpriced ($4 a pair more than Musicians Friend) and many of the sticks had no matching pair. After settling on a couple pair to get me through rehearsal, I proceeded to checkout. The overweight bearded man at the counter walked to the stick area to retrieve the pricing and rang me up. I gave him my debit card, he ran it and then handed me my card upside down with a pen and told me to sign the back of my card. I told him I would prefer not to but offered to show two forms of ID. He very rudely told me he would check my ID after I signed my card and if I didn't like that I didn't have to purchase the items. At this point I realized it was some weird power trip. I normally would have gone to the ATM and returned to complete my purchase but the way he composed himself I decided not to. He may have had a point with the signature but his demeanor was unprofessional. I will never return.
