I can't imagine how they stayed in business since 1955!. The last review for Hayes was written in August, 2008. Clearly, they have gone DOWNHILL since then.

I thought the double cheesburgers and fries we ordered would be amazing, given the previous reviews. Not True.

The order of french fries was tiny, almost shoestring potatoes, and ice cold. And, this was the good part of the meal.

The double cheesburger was what any other hamburger joint would have called a single cheeseburger. Again, tiny and soggy.

When I advised the counter person I just got a single, and had ordered a double, the guy says, "That IS our double, Hon. The single is about the size of a White Castle hamburger".

I paid $10.00 for this displeasure.

I won't be back.

Yummiest hamburgers I've had!. I just moved here from Texas and was looking for a good burger. Man oh man did I find one! This great little hole in the wall place knows how to make a burger! Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!!!!! I will definitely be going back soon!

I used to eat at Hayes every night after work, but now that I live farther away, I don;t get out there as much, but they are great, the service is awesome, it is a hole in the wall diner, which makes it that much better. The food is great, everyone I have recommended it to is hooked. I love it and recommend it for anyone, anytime, especially since its open 24 hours.

User review by vikingfn. We eat there about every 2 weeks. Burgers are thin and small and very very good. They put on lots of onions or you can get them plain. They are a little pricey but the food is good and you get that old diner feel. The chili I wasn't sure about but the more I ate the more I liked it. Weird. Also, they are open all night so it's great to stop there after a concert or whatever.

Traditions. Hayes is the best in KC. Old fashioned burgers and a homey, friendly atmosphere. They make burgers the way they should be made. The menu is short but flexible. A great place to eat good food cheap and fresh and to meet new friends.

A Northland Institution. Once you have been there once you understand while people love Hayes. You walk in the door and there you have room enough for 20 or so people. And when you go in after midnight there are always 20 or so people there. The burgers are amazing, the fries are better than any I have had in town. You can't find a better hole in the wall place to go after an evening out. If you have not been drop by after you have had and evening out and tell me that Hayes is not FATASTIC!

Hayes Ain't Great. I just moved here from another state and live right around the corner form this Hamburger joint. I stopped in one evening and got a couple of burgers. In short, they suck. The burgers are like the size of sausage buscuits with lots of grilled onions for about $3 a piece. WAY OVERPRICED for what you get. THE VALUE SUCKS !! I will NEVER GO THERE again. I WILL NOT reccomend to anyone else. In fact, I will volunteer that folks DO NOT GO THERE. The sad part is this, I work at a local college, so I will effect their business. Enjoy.

Old Fashioned Hospitality. I drive thirty minutes to eat at Hayes Hamburgers. Their hamburgers are delicious. Love those grilled onions. The chili is the best in Kansas City. They're breakfast is the best bargain going. The employees are very friendly. No nonsense here - food served quick and the same quality everytime. I can go there anytime, 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning after going to the boats. This place is really a treat. It's like traveling back to 1955. On yeah, the fries are absolutely the best in town.
