Catalytic Converter Disappointment.
Just had catalytic converter replaced on my Jeep GCL Saturday, for $240. Service was fast, efficient, and vehicle did seem to sound/run just fine. Took it to regular mechanic today (Wednesday) for unrelated issue and he asked about the catalytic converter. I've known this mechanic for two-plus years and he's always shot straight with me. He told me the converter that was installed is a universal converter that is much smaller than the one replaced, and that the life expectancy would likely be short. He wasn't too sure that it was all that certifiable as far as emissions testing goes, either. He's said there is nothing to do until it "bellies up," and to expect that my check engine light will likely start coming on, a lot. (groan) My preference is to invest in fixing things with quality parts in the hopes that their life expectancy increases, so fewer mechanic trips. Next time I'll ask more questions and do my homework beforehand, and not be so quick to take advantage of their "right now" service. It's not a big deal, just a disappointing one.

A muffler's a muffler.
You can buy one anywhere and have it installed... if, however, you choose to buy from Seeburg, your 'Lifetime Warranty' will expire the minute you loose your receipt. Be advised!

HIGHLY recommend Seeburg.
I had my car inspected (somewhere other than Seeburg) and had a problem with my muffler - was told I'd need a new one. So I took it in to Seeburg - was then told that I didn't need a new muffler; that my current muffler could be fixed with welding some small holes shut. They fixed it at NO CHARGE. They just acquired a lifetime customer.

Best in town.
Took my daughters escort in after a muffler tip was damaged, everyone else said hundreds for the muffler replacement. These guys said. Eh 25 bucks for a new tip on the exhast.... got 30 minutes..
Then I took a 90 BMW 735 that others wanted upwards of 1200 to replace exhaust. I got magnaflow from the headers back for 600 and has a great sound.
make the drive, you will be pleasantly surprised..
