Outsiders Not Welcome. If I had to sum up my one and only experience at Sharps (bar side) it would be: Outsiders not welcome.

My friends and I stopped in Sharps around 9:00 PM after dinner at another Brookside restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with disapproving stares, and a "you're not welcome here" attitude. We ordered a round of drinks from a friendly gentleman but finished them quickly as the rest of the staff and patrons continued to glare at my quiet group of friends.

After leaving Sharps, our group was standing outside saying our goodbyes when one of the bartenders and two other individuals (not sure if they were staff or patrons) came outside to smoke. They began to laugh and mock our clothing (some of us had come straight from work, others I guess weren't wearing the right color t-shirts), hairstyles (too short? too long?), and general appearance. The group I was with is very laid back and non-confrontational by nature so we did our best to ignore the jeers but quickly moved on.

The whole experience left a bad taste in every one of our mouths. As we walked away, one of my friends commented that it was like the "Cheers bar from hell"; I couldn't have agreed more. What I find most ironic is that I imagine that the staff and patrons at Sharps like to think of themselves as open-minded individuals, but where I come from, judging people based on their appearance is anything but.

Greatest Little Bar & Grill. This is a quaint little place to go and have an awesome meal. The staff is always professional and polite. This is a great place to meet friends for lunch or to have a romantic getaway. Great bartenders!!!!!!

Good...but not for much longer. I really love the food at Sharp's. I love that it is a small business and still manages to offer a huge, yummy menu. However, Sharp's business has been decreasing exponentially and the turn over is high in employment for multiple reason. Expect them to close before Easter 2009.

Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Kid-friendly restaurant serves pizza, wraps, soups, salads and offers breakfast platters at affordable prices.

Good food with out the attitude~. Sharp's was the first restaurant I went to when moving to the Brookside area. The dinners are great with a multitude of choices. One of our favorites is the chicken fried steak..better than any I have ever tasted. Everything comes with fresh steamed veggies, not the canned. I am not much on breakfasts so it is not fair for me to judge but what I have had is above average. The service has always been great, very friendly and always checking back. Not a place for large groups but for a small group it is excellent. I would recommend Sharp's to anyone.

Sharps ROCKS!. If you like great food and a comfortable place to eat, then you gotta check out Sharps. Even though the weekends are busy, they are worth it - breakfast is great! They open early during the week too (it's not near as busy M - F).

User review by jbertoncin. Sharp's has absolutely the best biscuits & gravy anywhere. Once you've tried them nothing else will ever even compare. Great prices, excellent service (I have never had a bad server here either), and yes, it is crowded on the weekends but I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes. And I would wait longer if necessary, it's definitely worth the wait.

Classic local joint. A very comfortable low-key place to have some unpretentious food in an unpretentious environment. Great breakfasts. Eclectic crowd. Very welcoming and friendly service...I have never had a bad server here!

OK, but why settle for OK?. Average food, slow wait staff, crowded during the weekends. A nice place in a good location but better food can be found in less-hyped restaurants off the beaten path.

Omelette heaven. Sharp's has the best omelettes in Kansas City. Everything else on the menu is fantastic as well. My personal favorite, jalapeno and cream cheese omelette with monterey jack on top. The service is friendly and prompt and they even have a full bar if you need a good bloody mary on a Saturday morning. I don't even live in Kansas City anymore, but I still dream of Sharp's for breakfast.
