Tips for Mario Tricoci

Horrible experience - Leawood location. I had an all-over highlight for my long, curly hair. He promised to make it bright and shiny. Instead, it was the most unprofessional, awful coloring I've ever had. There were uneven dark streaks in the blond, and I left the salon with at least a half inch of dark hair "regrowth" around my face, with the effect of looking cheap and trashy. When I went back the next day to talk to the stylist to fix the mistakes, he claimed that he thought I "parted my hair on the other side" as a reason for the patchy coloring. My whole head was streaky and uneven. I have very forgiving curly hair, but I still had to wear a hat--it was that bad.

The worst part was that the one treatment really damaged my hair. I paid $200 for the entire experience, and ended up driving to my former home town to my former stylist, who did her best to fix it. She would have charged $60 for the same service. Since then I've had to drench my hair in conditioning treatments to get it to curl like it did before my Mario Tricoci highlight.

Mario Tricoci is a rip-off. My stylist wasn't worth $20, much less $200.

User review by lukelucy. The worse haircut ever. The stylist, I find out later, is recently out of beauty school. I would expect more from an upscale salon, and a $50.00 haircut. I had to go the next day and get a real haircut.

Best Hair Color Ever!. I moved here from LA and a neighbor recommended Mario Tricoci Plaza and specifically Stephanie for hair color. She did a triffic job and also offered other ideas on what we could do with future appointments. I highly recommend her and the salon, shockingly as good as LA color, if not better!

UTTERLY AWFUL!!!. By far THE WORST salon experience I've ever had! I scheduled my WEDDING DAY appointments months in advance. I called the salon the morning of, just to make sure everything went smoothly, only to be told "Sorry, your stylist is home sick. You'll have to reschedule for another day." WHAT???!! Since they didn't offer to squeeze me in with someone who wasn't home sick, I had to cajole the appointment desk person for 30 minutes to try to get other appointments FOR MY WEDDING DAY. Then, when I got there early for my rescheduled appointments, I was told that I would "have to wait 1-2 hours because they were running behind styling a bride." Excuse me, but I was a bride, too!! I was so upset by the whole thing that I wrote a letter to the manager, and never heard a word. No explanation, no apologies. Mario Tricocci SUCKS!!!

What happened?. It is unfortunate that people think that $$$ means excellence, especially in terms of a haircut. I went in for a haircut, was explicit with my needs and wants, even had a photo! And what did I get? Jennifer Anniston's 'do from Friends circa 1996. Come on guys, either send all your stylists to a big city for some up-to-date training or lower your prices significantly. I wanted something hip, and if I couldn't get that, I would have at least liked an even professional cut. Thank God I didn't get colored there. Sorry, don't see what the hype is all about.

User review by thescribe. I recently moved KCMO from NYC. I had heard Mario Tricoci was a pretty high end salon so I thought I would check it out. I had a base color with highlights. The dye job itself was great but the salon I think is still stuck in 1985. The sink chair was as hard as a rock. The colorist never asked me if I wanted a magazine/coffee. Also, the assistant who shampooed my hair never cleaned the stained color off my skin. (So I had a ring around my face until I asked another stylist for the removal agent.) I expected to have my hair styled, NOPE, the assistant pointed me in the direction of the hair dryer. Lastly, the colorist never stopped over to take a look at the completed color. For $110 + tip I expect a bit more customer service. Thumbs down to MT, the Plaza location!

Very Dirty. My first trip to this spa the people at the front desk were fighting. Very loud and with attitude. Over-priced with services average.
