In Short – Planet Sub started in the late '70s as Yello Sub of Lawrence, Kan., and branched into other states in 1997. Each location has its own design and atmosphere, with original wall images similar to the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" cartoon. College students, families wanting an inexpensive dinner and business folks stopping in for lunch find turkey, roast beef, portobello mushrooms and other veggies on oven-baked bread. Sides include chips, cookies and potato salad.
