give way to wood in the smaller Sally Kemper Wood Gallery. Stark white walls emphasize the featured art inside the stylized and angular building designed by modernist architecture firm Gunnar Birkets & Assocaites, Inc.
The Collection The Sally Kemper Wood Gallery regularly features small, rotating national and international works. The Charlotte Crosby Kemper Gallery hosts the larger, limited-engagement exhibitions. The permanent Kemper collection includes works by Georgia O'Keefe, Paul Cadmus and Dale Chihuly. The museum's restaurant, Café Sebastienne, is also the permanent home of Frederick James Brown's "The History of Art," a 110-painting series depicting moments of art world significance. After visiting the Kemper after visiting the Nelson, it was a major shock. Maybe because I'm not into modern art and maybe because I was cranky, tired, and wanting to go home--but it was just a very
boring stop. The fake gaurd was interesting though. Scared me to death to be honest. But I found it quite disappointing.…
