This place is a disgrace. Horrible customer service and, are you ready for this? They weigh the scoops of ice cream and will charge you an arm and a leg for it. There are much better ice cream places in the vicinity so don't waste your time here. There is another ice cream parlor nearby that will give you a nice size serving with big scoops...the traditional way of serving ice cream in this country.
Can you say "Sour Milkshake" - The Worst!.
Okay so I can deal with poor service...maybe a bad day for employee's, who knows, but the milkshake had something wrong with it. One drink of it's nastiness and it made me more sick than I have been in 5 years. It smelled sour and by the time I wanted to drink it, I was too far away to drive back uptown to deal with it.
Way over priced for less than standard ice cream.
Stick to Sheridan's and you'll be happier.
favorite place in kc. I have been going to Murray's since i couldn't see above the counter and in all my years of ice cream connoisseur-ing I have yet to find a place with the quality and consistent goodness of Murray's. Their flavors are always fresh and innovative and I have yet to have a disappointing experience. Cowbear is clearly a genius, he summed up the chocolate flake fromage perfectly. It may sound bizarre but cream cheese, ice cream, and delicate chocolate flakes compliment each other perfectly at Murray's. So please, stop wasting your time reading review this and go get your own scoop of heaven.
Yum yum!. This is the best ice cream i have ever had by far. I make my own homemade ice cream that is delicious, but i can never come close to Murray's. The homemade cookies are also good, but the real treat is the ice cream. My favorite is the Chocolate Flake Fromage because it is very creamy and has a very unique tangyness. Every ice cream is held up to the highest standard of Murray herself making each creative ice cream consistently great. My friends and i frequent this shop at least twice a week and we would go more often but it does close at night and on mondays and tuesdays.
Please get over it.
The ice cream is FANTASTIC....literally the best I've ever had. That's why the lines are so long. Yes, it's expensive but it's specialty. Please please please go to Dairy Queen to get your scoops.
And PLEASE know that the customer is NOT always right. I just cringe when I hear a customer say that at an establishment. You're not right - you're cheap and really you would be better served somewhere else.
LUUV IT!. Me and my family go to Murray's for about everyone's birthday, and on other special occasions. I would highly recommend it for people who want a good cup/cone of ice cream. Yes they weigh the ice cream, but sure tastes good on a hot summer day.
Getting what you pay for. You don't go to the butcher without expecting for your meat to be weighed, so why expect other food items to be different? And if it is so expensive please feel free to eat something made from mixes and sub par ingredients. The rest of us will enjoy our Chocolate Flake Fromage.
Great place!. I read a couple of reviews from the whiny babies who "didn't get their way" and decided that I needed to write a review myself. Yes, they WEIGH the cones----Whaaa-whaaa-whaaa! Get over it! If you don't like it, that's fine, go somewhere else. I have been in there on MULTIPLE occasions and NEVER found the staff to be rude. Maybe you reap what you sow..... The ice cream is pricier than some other places---it's also BETTER than any chain store I can think of. Murray's has a FUN staff that has always been courteous and helpful as well as professional and personable. I would recommend Murray's to ANYONE visiting KC, but leave your tantrums at home.
OH MY GOD.....THEY WEIGH THE SCOOPS. I recently stopped by Murray's Ice Cream in Kansas City and was quite surprised when I discovered they actually weigh the scoops of ice cream....and charge way too much. I ordered a small cup of chocolate ice cream and they charged me $4.25 for two tiny scoops. I was deeply offended by this as a consumer. When I spoke with the manager I was given attitude and told to leave the store and go somewhere else if I didn't like their policy. word of advice...go get ice cream somewhere else. It's good but not worth the price and the horrible service.
