Good Grocer for the area

I use this Sunfresh all the time and have had very few problems out of them. Yes some of the baggers could care less about your purchases, some of them are disabled and should be working in other parts of the store not a fast moving check out line. Yes there are occasional homeless outside the store but they have never bothered me. They are less bothersome then the ones you find on almost every corner inside the plaza area. As far as the clipboard holders it is a simple no thank you or simply walk on by them. Westport is a very diverse area so of course you are shopping with all kinds of different people. I have never had a problem with the management of this store the few times I have discovered a problem with my bill or purchases there was never an issue with correcting it or exchanging for a non damaged item, in fact there have been times when I get to the line with a unnoticed damaged product and they point it out to me so I could get a different one. I go there at all hours of the day and night. I do not use the deli or butcher so I can not comment on them but I have checked out the butcher area and have always been greeted politely and promptly . They are a very affordable store for the area go 20 or so blocks south, north, or west IE: Brookside,Downtown, or Kansas and you will find much higher prices for more than likely the same products with the same types of people standing outside of those places

Bizarre customers, rude employees

I love this store, but BE PREPARED, you are in midtown, crazies are everywhere. The employees in the Deli with two or three exceptions are HORRIBLE. If I don't see the good ones then, I don't need no pastrami or fried chicken. You better just deal with it. The two or three who are good must carry the weight of that whole department. One man acts like he'd rather beat you then wait on you...avoid him at all costs!!!! The prices are normal, selection great, beautiful store. My main complaint would be the liqour dept. Their stocking guidelines are non existant (ie Peter Vella Chablis). Unfortuneately I think the baggers are semi comatose...you order will never be bagged right nor as you request. Cold food with hot, delicate food with cans..the list goes on and on...switch to the green bags and you'll never have to say "paper " again only to have it in plastic....grapes under the amonia etc....I still go though but I have to be on my toes...if you are not feeling up to par....better not shop that day....

In that I would agree that most of the products in Sun Fresh are more exspensive, I would not go as far to accuse the employees of stealing (shampoo and conditioner) at the checkout. I would be prudent to not accuse people in a public forum unless one has documentation or absolute proof. Regarding a previous review by an unsatisfied customer, I would question calling shampoo and conditioner "high-end".

Maybe you should shop at the dollar store over on Valentine and Broadway?

I have, however noticed that many of the customers at this SunFresh range from the "bizarre-mental-disorders, "homeless shoplifters" to the afluent "yuppies" and "metro-sexuals". So, if one is going to comment on the staff at SunFresh, one should consider looking at the "clientel" as well.

terrible baggers, rotton produce, overpriced, rude employees, dirty parking lot,

I've never had an acceptable trip to this grocer. Every time I have to go out of necessity (ie close to work) I end up dissapointed. The managers never care about customer concerns either. Today I purchased a few items including some grapes and a carton of milk. the bagger put the milk ON TOP of the grapes. I didn't realize until I was already home and the produce was ruined. The baggers either are a) morons, b) don't care or c) BOTH. Their idea of customer service is completely unacceptable. When I called to complain, no one answered the phone.

Last time I purchased (among other things) shampoo and conditioner, relatively high ticket items that i found conveniently left out of my bag when I got home. the baggers STOLE my purchases! they were even rang up on the receipt!! Another instance involved some produce that was decomposing and employees hadn't bothered to remove. I informed a manager who said NOTHING to me. No response, not even one word. I could not believe it. TOTALLY unacceptable. do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. this "establishment" is a total joke and a total trash-hole just about par with the beggars and trash hanging out outside.

Horrible Deli Service!

Where do they get these people who work in the Deli? This store has the worst service in the deli department of any I have ever encountered, they don't even know how to make a sandwich. This department could easily do better business with a group of compentent and customer orientated employees but obviously store management takes their customers for granted. Do yourself a favor and go elswhere.
