Fun field trip !. My son and his Beta Club group ate there when they were on their field trip yesterday. They had a blast ! They toured Science City, had lunch at Union Station, saw "Fly Me To The Moon" at Imax, then came down to Crown Center and Fritz's for their midafternoon snack. My son always enjoys things that are on the cutting edge ! Plus, he loves trains ! He thought it was pretty cool that you call in your order on the phone from the booth and that your food is brought by a train on the tracks and then dropped down right to you! I have never been to Fritz's, but am planning on going when I go to Kansas City ! Thanks for this very cool restaurant !

HORRIBLE - HORRIBLE - HORRIBLE Food. We stopped in here 1.3.08 while having our 4 year old and 6 month old out at Crown Center. I have to say, the trains were treally neat and mhy 4 year old really enjoyed them but is NOT worth it to go back. First of all, as we waited in line to be seated a server kept coming out and asking for party numbers and seated three groups of people before us that were in line BEHIND us. I don't care what your party number is you seat the people that get there first!!! .......and the worst part --- the food was atrocious. I took a bite of my tenderloin sandwhich and it tasted like (I kid you not) the smell of urine. I had to rid of it in my napkin because I couldn't even swallow it. I thought maybe it was just me so I had my husband taste it and he did the same. At that point, I tried the nuggets my son was eating to see if they were edible....disgusting....I wouldn't even let him finish the rest. We paid, left and will NEVER go back.

don't waste you money. I only gave Fritz 2 stars because of the child charm of the train delevering your food. The food was over priced and not tasty. The hostess were not polite. I would ony go back unless if my child drove me crazy asking to go.. Then if i had to go i would order the cheapest thing have it delevered my the train then go eat real food elewhere.

Went in to scope out for a possible kid visit and found out we enjoyed it too!!. I had walked over to Crown Center with two collegues on recommendation from a friend from the KC area. I am from Manhattan and wanted to scope out a few possible places to bring our two preschool/kindergarten age boys this summer. Both myself and the ladies with me enjoyed ourselves as well as finding a hot spot for future visits. We all chose to have chili dogs and were surprised to have the dogs cut in 3-4" portions and laying across the bun. This made it easier to eat like a sandwich. The onion rings were like homemade also. It was "Take Your Child To Work Day" and there were several young gentleman at work with their mothers. We overheard the manager giving the boys a certificate of appreciation and a little speech. Too adorable!! The service was speedy and cheerful!! Overall, we had a great experience and I look forward to sharing this restaurant with my family!

Best Kid Restaurant. We went to Fritz's today because my 2 year old LOVES trains. Everything was great. The people that rate this poor must NEVER eat at McDonald's, Chucky Cheese, or really like kids. Hello people, yes this is a diner with diner style food...if you are looking for the Ritz, the Hyatt, or some other white glove that doesn't allow or turns their nose up at kids...you aren't going to find it here. Also, why in the world would people go during the holidays when everyone and their uncle are at Crown Center Christmas shopping. Do you honestly think you are the only hot, hungry, and grouchy from shopping. Also as parents, you know you aren't going for the food, but to experience the joy your child has at the restaurant. This is a don't miss restaurant if you have kids, but you won't find another like it!!!!

Great Food at a great service!!. We went Crown Center to Fritz's today for lunch and it was wonderful. We order the regular hamburgers, a tendelion and several orders of fries. All were VERY good. Not small at all! All our food arrived very hot and tasted great.

The kids loved the trains. We adilts enjoyed it also.

We feed 4 people for under $20.00. We all did drink ice water, so that did help on the cost of our meal.

The waiters were very nice and always coming by to see if we needed anything at all.

We will for sure go back whenever we are in Kansas City!!

Forget it!. My husband and I took our 8 year old grandson to the restaurant because he loves trains and we always like trying different places. The only thing that was positive was the train service. The food was very poor. My husband and I ordered chili and a grilled cheese. The chili was beans on the bottom, meat on the top - no tomatoes, onions, liquid, anything. The sandwich looked and tastes like it had been made hours ago - one side was cooked, the other not! The hamburger and fries were just mediocre - nothing you would want to order again. The help seemed bored and tired and some were quite unfriendly. Other than the trains, don't waste your money.

Fritz's Railroad Restaurant, Major Disappointment. I was looking forward to bringing my 4 year old (who loves trains) to a restaurant where your meal is delivered by trains. I knew the food was going to be ordinary diner food, but didn't realize it was going to be very small, very greasy portions. My son was interested in the train delivery system, so that kept him quiet and well behaved, but I really felt I did him a dis-service by bringing him into such a filthy restaurant with ordinary service at best. The staff wasn't entusiastic at all about their novelty train decor and all looked like they couldn't wait for the end of their shift. For the bad quality of food, and lack of service, I should have brought my family to McDonald's. At least that would have been clean and served with a smile. I never write restaurant reviews, but I actually read some good reviews on Fritz's that lead me to go there. Please understand that it was filthy, bad food, ordinary service, and the whole train thing - very cheesy, very cheep. If all you want is a restaurant that'll keep your kids quite during dinner, get a baby sitter. I looked forward to surprising my wife and kids but ended up being very embarrassed and disappointed. When we were done, I took them to another restaurant for a real dinner.

Best place to avoid. The train service concept is the only positive I can share. The kids love it. The service is slow. The food is marginal at best. It is also high priced (which is usually expected at Crown Center). I would rather eat a McDonalds (and don't get me started on how much I dislike McDonalds).
