Fun Spot for Kids....
Great spot for kids...the train is such a cute addition and the looks of their faces when the train delivers is priceless. Very loud so be prepared to speak up.
During busy times, you could wait up to 30 minutes in lines for lunch - but hey, it's a popular spot.
Food was good...everything is priced separately.
With the exception of one or two people, the service could speak better English - more precise, no jargon or slang. Hard to understand and had to ask 3 or 4 times to clarify. English people, English!…
bad place. We eat at a number aof K. C. resturats and this was by far one of the worst of all. The food was horrible, the place was dirty, and the service was just as bad. They also forgot to bring my granddaughters food and when we called back it still never came. I really expected a member of management to stop by and apolgy ha/ha.Iwouldn"t recommend this place to my worst enemy.…
Great Food and Fun. Our kids love the trains and the food is good too. Shakes, burgers and fries. The Gen Dare burger has hash browns it!! Onion Rings are also awsome.
New Fritz's vs Old Fritz's.
Today I went with my daughters class to a field trip at Science City, within walking distance of Crown Center. I got on the computer before we left and I searched for restaurants close to Science
City. Fritz's came up on the list. With the trains and kids I thought this was a great choice. When I read the ratings I came across some very disturbing reviews. I didn't know if I wanted to go to the Crown Center Fritz's. I have eaten many times at the KCK location. The original location is old and greasy but hey, it is a diner and I love the Gen Dare sandwich and it's crispy layer of hash browns.
I knew the trains were something the kids would love and the price is reasonable especially in Crown Center so we did go to Fritz's. There were six of us and we were seated within five minutes even though they were very busy. The wait staff were almost Zen like in their calm friendly manner. A single waitress sang happy birthday to a sweet one year old as she served him a sundae. She didn't appear rushed at all. The host, two waitresses and a bus person all stopped and spoke with our table, asking if everything was OK or just to chat. Too bad no one had a name tag on because I would mention them by name if possible.
The food at the Crown Center Fritz's is as good as the original Fritz's. Unfortunately the reviews about the cleanliness were somewhat accurate. The little card stand on the table with the dessert list was covered in dripping dried ice cream and the edges of the tables were dirty- it looks like only the top of the table gets wiped down. I didn't look much closer than that but I was happy with my tasty food and good service. The girls got BLT's -the boys got grilled ham and cheese. The other mom got a chili sandwich. The girls got root beer floats and the boys got large ice cream sundaes. They have many special diner sandwiches and drinks. As a restaurant it gets three stars but the trains for the kids take Fritz's to four stars.…
Not worth it!.
My husband and I decided to take our 4 children to this restaurant when we arrived at Crown Center too late to catch the free Clifford exhibit. We were looking for something fun for the kids (ages 8,
7, 4, and 2) to do since they were bummed to have missed the Clifford exhibit.
It was a Tuesday night & Fritz's was not busy at all, so we decided to try it out. From the get go the staff was really rude & seemed bored & annoyed at just about everything. I was a little surprised that everything was "al la cart", and I could tell it was going to be pricey to feed our family of 6, but I was hoping it was going to be good food at least. Nope! The portions were small, the burgers were disgusting, the fries were cold, and there is no such thing as a free drink refill at this place (didn't know anyone still did that)! But, hey....they did deliver our disgusting, cold food by train right to our table. So, I guess that's really what you pay for, because it sure isn't for the food or service.
Oh, and there is no restroom inside the Crown Center location. You have to walk out of the restaurant, around the corner, and head down the hall to the mall restrooms....which is *super* convenient when you have 4 small children with bladders the size of peanuts!
Oh, and this is quite possibly the dirtiest, nastiest restaurant I've ever eaten at. Our table was dirty, the walls behind the booth were dirty, and the highchairs were filthy. My kids were enjoying watching the trains, otherwise I would have gotten up and left I was so grossed out!
For what it's worth, I have never written a restaurant review before, but I just could not believe this place actually has 5 star reviews! I guess there are quite a few people out there with very low expectations, because I've had better food and better service at McDonald's, and my kids were just as entertained with McDonald's free play place. Oh....and McDonald's doesn't cost $50 to feed my family!
So NOT worth the novelty of having a train drop some food off at your table! I would suggest you stop by, watch the trains make a loop or two around the restaurant & then go eat somewhere that won't make you sick!…
