One of the best views in the city serving mediocre food.
This was a special dinner for four and it was so mediocre that it is hard to explain. Food with no garnishes, side dishes plopped down on a crowded table in gratin dishes that looked cafeteria style. One out of two $85 wines was really great; one should not have been on the wine list. There are so many great restaurants in KC, the only reason to go here is for a cocktail and the view.

Great jazz, terrific views of downtown.
Benton's has a lot of ambience. I love the fireplace when you step off the elevator. It adds an immediate warmth to the room. The views can't be beat. What an awesome place to take in the downtown KC skyline.
The tornadoes of beef is the best. I also really like their shrimp dumpling appetizer.
Service is just okay and could be improved, especially for the prices you pay.

Nice view, very good service..
The service was outstanding and very friendly. A very beautiful place to dine. However, the food was not as good as I had hoped. The steaks were not true prime beef but the KC Strips were flavorful. The filet's were a joke, small and overcooked. The portions were a bit smaller than some of their competition. The wine selection is one of the best.

Great Food, Superior Service.
Benton's provides a wonderful dining experience, either during the evening or for their fabulous Sunday brunch. Moreover, they make a special effort to remember your name and your preferences. It's never condescending serivce -- just great service. From the fresh peeled shirmp appetizers with EVERY meal in the evening to the Sunday buffet dessert choices, Benton's is a wonderful place to dine in Kansas City. And yes, they have a Thomas Hart Benton painting.
