view & uploadWORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I feel like the staff must be loosing money due to their terrible manager and front desk
Great Salon and Spa.
Best cut and color in KC! I've been to all the major aveda salons in KC and this one is my favorite. Staffed with real people who really care that you love your services and do a fantastic job!
Quality services and quality products. Wonderful technicians and a front desk that is friendly and knowlegable.
My Red Hair Rocks!. I am not sure what happened with other people but, I was absolutely satisfied, thrilled actually, with my cut and color! Everyone was helpful and pleasant and my stylist, Manuel, was awesome. He chatted with me about what I wanted and did exactly what I asked. My cut was great, didn't take too much off, and my new red is stunning. I went in a long-haired, dirty blonde and I came out a semi-long, eye popping red-head. I have had nothing but compliments. You better believe I'll be going back.
The WORST cut and color I have ever had!!!. I should have known when I called this salon for an appointment, the receptionist acted rude and bored. He wasn't helpful when I told him my hairtype and asked which stylist would work best. When I got there, it wasn't a good vibe, the stylists didn't smile or say hello. The waiting area had an empty water pitcher and a stack of messy torn up magazines. I kept my hopes up, this was supposed to be my special day and I was excited. My hair is light blonde and I was hoping for a good cut and some lowlights. The stylist and I didn't click, but that is ok, as long as she did a good job.... I noticed that when she was doing the foil that she wasn't getting the color up to the roots, I didn't say anything, I didn't want to seem difficult. She told me she had another client so I sat in the waiting area with the foils on my hair. Seemed a little weird, but ok. The client took 45 minutes and the stylist came running over to me and rushed me to the shampoo area (which has a nifty view of all of the stylists eating thier lunches in the breakroom). When she sat me down in front of the mirror I almost fainted. My wet hair was almost black, with the exception of light blonde roots. I calmed myself and thought it will lighten up as it dries. It was dark brown with a few thick blonde stripes and blonde roots. She then proceeded to cut my hair into a mullet. I was in shock. I said "it is so dark" and she offered to cut the dark parts off!!! At this point my number one instinct was to not let her do anything else. Oh and I asked for long sweeping bangs that I could wear to the side if I wanted. She chopped the front of my hair so short that it looks like a child did it. The bangs are so short that they stick straight out. I paid 125.00 for this nightmare. I even tipped her. I was in such shock and so embarrassed that I just wanted to get out of there. One of the other stylists asked me if I was happy with my color. I could tell he thought it was bad. I went in as a blonde that needed a few lowlights and a good cut, and came out as a brunette with a zebra stripe an bangs that look like they had been caught in a fire. I have actually been avoiding people until I can get it fixed. I say if you want the Naturally experience, find a 1st grader and give them scissors and dye. You will save the money and get the same results. I would give a zero star rating but they don't let you do that.
Still Mortified 2 Years Later.
I've been going to Naturally off and on since 1980. The last few visits have been worse and worse - from salon appearance, to customer service, to actual cuts and styling. (Like the stylist/colorist who moaned the whole time of my appt., clawing my head with her acrylic nails).
Myrna D. & Leanna were the best and Manuel wasn't bad either (when he wasn't stopping to check out hotties walking by) but both are gone, dunno about Manuel; so I booked with Monica in Sept. 2008, which was my last visit to this or ANY salon to date.
My hair was long, thick, naturally wavy, highlighted - which is why I chose this particular stylist.
I'd noticed that the salon's appearance had gotten more "lax" as the years had gone by, but so long as I kept getting decent cuts & or color, was ok with it.
For the first time ever, I brought 2 photos of the general style that I wanted. However, upon arrival, my stylist seemed to have other things on her mind. She never looked at the photos, nor did she hear me when I said that I'd just been laid off and would not be returning for some time.
As my wet hair was being combed out, someone from the front desk came over and said to her that she needed to call the principal of her children's school.
As a mom too, I suggested she go make her call, that I was not in a hurry (not like I had a job to get back to!). She refused, said she'd handle it when we were finished.
At this point she began flying through my cut. At one point she said "can I cut this much off?" (about a 1/2"). I said sure, BUT, I realized that she was actually cutting the back of my hair to that length!!!!!!
I was absolutely HORRIFIED!!! I could not even speak, there was no way to hide what she'd done, so I just sat in the chair, waiting for her to finish. I got up, paid for the cut, gave her a tip, and left. I am CERTAIN I was on auto-pilot at that point - just completely in shock and super upset.
I have not been back (to Naturally or any other salon) and will not go back to Naturally. I'd been there for cuts/color pre-wedding, before and after my daughter's birth, new jobs, etc. - many milestones, but this was it.
My suggestion? Call Tabatha Coffey and beg for help to turn this once great salon into something worthwhile again, or just sell it to someone who gives a damn.
Down Hill.
My first experience at Naturally was my best. I called a day before I needed an appointment and got right in. I loved the hair cut and my stylist was nice.
With each subsequent appointment, the quality and my overall satisfaction has diminished.
The staff really is rude. I have called and been placed on hold for close to 10 minutes. No one apologizes. When I get to the salon, the waiting area is on top of people having their hair done. The beverage selection is tap water and hot tea. The facilities are really lacking. When you get your hair washed, you can see into the employee break room. When I have gone there to just pick up product and not even get an appointment, the stylists who have done my hair in the past, don't even say hi.
They also seem to really process your hair when you have it colored there. If anyone knows of another place that I can get a great layered cut and a color, please let me know. I will not be going back to Naturally. It's well, unnatural.
Really pretty awful for brides.
I was in town for my sister-in-law's wedding and she booked her wedding day services there ? my comments are in regard to this.
It was immediately obvious that not enough stylists had been assigned to our party ? none of us got what we wanted because there were so few stylists that they were constantly running late and had to rush. Ironically if the stylists had just taken the time to listen (or read the booking info) ? there would have been enough time. (For example I didn?t want a wash and dry ? I told him several times (and booked for) just a style which would have been a much shorter process, yet the stylist ignored me and had me shampooed.) The bridesmaid who went after me was understandably angry because the stylist said he now did not have enough time to do everything she wanted and had booked for. I was upset because I simply do not ruin my hair by drying but that?s what the stylist did - despite my repeated objections.
Much worse than that and much less forgivable was the job the makeup artist did on the bride to be for the big day. My sister-in-law is truly a natural beauty, tall, thin willowy, with angular facial features to die for ? she needs far less makeup ? even for bridal photos ? than most of us do. Yet the makeup job made her look like a clown ? it was really awful. It was so bad the bride started crying after ? because there wasn?t even time for her to start over, we had already been made late by the situation discussed above. Her wedding pictures reflect the poor makeup job ? she looks very made up and far less beautiful than she really is ? I of course told her none of this ? told her on that day that she looked beautiful because there was no time to fix it and I didn?t want her to be miserable.
We come back "home" to KC 1-2 times a year for vacation and if I ever have a spa service done I would never have anything done at this salon again after this experience.
Great all in one salon and spa. Book in advance for Saturday appointments and come early!. I go to Naturally to get all of my stuff done. Hair, nails, waxing and massage....I think I'll get a facial next time! All staff members are very good at what they do. Some things are a little old or needing to be fixed/painted, but they assured me that they're working on some updates. Great place if you want great talent.
Editorial Review by Nancy Mora. Detailed salon with star clients such as Joan Rivers, Steven Tyler and Mary Tyler Moore.
Unfair Pricing. I was a regular customer for approximately 3 years at naturally, even though I felt the manager was rude, I was satisfied with the hair dresser I had, however I was not pleased with the pricing. I had standing appointments every 5 - 6 weeks. The last visit and I mean the last visit I will ever make to the Naturally Salon; I was charged 210.00 for a cut and color (before tip). If my hair was extremely long or need special requirements, I could have understood; this however was regular Maintenance. I felt I was charged this simply because they thought I would pay. I have since had conversations with former naturally clients that have had similar experiences. I wonder how many out of town Kansas City visitors are over charged by Naturally ?
