Editorial Review for Le Fou Frog – by Jen Girdish
The Scene
Sporting a bistro ambience, the Frog is funky, bedecked with paintings, French prints and knickknacks. The charmer is the small dining room, cozy for a date; the table is the right size to lean over candle light.
The Food
The menu, while extensive, changes daily: Check the chalkboard menus. Entrees include Ahi tuna on pasta in a beet and ginger oil sauce, quail in a bed of herbed wild rice, red snapper with porcini mushrooms and asparagus. Complete the experience with frozen chocolate mousse or profiteroles (pastry filled with vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate).

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Lookng at it from the outside, you would neer know what a treasure lies within. I never ever thought a Kansas City restaurant would top my other faves in New Orleans and Vieques, but it definitely has. The food is amazing, hands down the best food I have ever tasted. The menu changes, which made me sad at first when I wanted to go back and order what I had liked so much the first time...but its definitely not a bad thing, it got me to try a variety of stuff and I have loved everything I have ever eaten there. On top of the amazing entrees (the Filet Le Fou is mouthwatering) they have wonderful hors d'oeurves of cheeses and fruits, and a fantastic tartare de thon with ahi tuna. Add to that my two favorite staples from my favorite cty of New Orleans, Le Fou has some fantastic french onion soup and creme brulee. Its somewhat pricey, but believe me, worth every penny. The staff is lovely, and the owner always stops by the table, either to just check on how your food is, or to bring you your to go boxes, which usually have a lovely little message written on them. This place is cozy and unpretentious, the people are wonderful, its an absolute 10. And guaranteed to impress a girl if you take her there on a date.
Pros: Cozy, romantic ambience, fantastic staff, best food I have ever tasted in MO, Lovely owners
Cons: Small, so at peak times may be somewhat difficult to get a table

Nothing but praises for this bistro. The selection, the taste and the service is excellent. Nothing more but perfection will be provided at this place. I am from Dallas, TX and everytime I come to KC, I always make an attempt to come to this restaurant with my girlfriend. The lobster bisque is to die for and the eclectic selection of entree is amazing. For those who are looking for some place romantic and local, then look no further.
Pros: The food, ambience, parking, service, and wine selection
Cons: Price (expensive, but good), restaurant size (small)
