Very Poor Customer Service. We called the week before and the morning of our arrival to inform them we were coming in early and needed our rooms by 1pm. They were very friendly, but when we arrived the rooms weren't ready and they didn't seem to care or remember they had promised to 'take care of us'. Really? Then our LG flat panel televisions were terrible in both rooms! They must have bought a defective batch of TV that can't be brightened... there is NO menu control for brightness or contrast and it was constantly irritating to watch the dark screen. We ended up watching TV from our laptops. And the staff didn't seem to care and pretended not to not or see the difference. REALLY! And now Parking!!! $18, REALLY!

BED BUGS.......A REAL NIGHTMARE. READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE VISITING......WE GOT BED BUGS, HORRIBLY! They admitted at the front desk to having problems, and the GM wouldn't talk to us! We stayed on the 14th floor, which, if you chech other posts you'll see a past history of reoccurrences. The staff is HORRIBLE, the room had a WET FLOOR, DIRTY furniture, hair in the bathroom on the towels, no parking unless you use valet and the restaurant is inadequate! Good luck.....BIGGEST MISTAKE WE EVER MADE WAS STAYING HERE!

Editorial Review. Swanky hotel brings urban chic to Kansas City with a hip atmosphere and full amenities.

Vintage feel, treated like royalty. I snaged a great deal on a room and loved every minute of it. The hotel seemed pretty empty and the front desk staff very helpful. Adressing me as Ms. almost like I was a princess. The bed was SO comfortable and the room was exqusite! It was too bad I could only stay one night. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a nice hotel to relax and get away.

Wonderful attention to detail!. We stayed at the Hotel Phillips for a weekend get away. We loved the art deco interior and beautiful lobby which greets you upon entering. The attention to detail is wonderful, down to the aveda bath products and the service is attentive from the friendly and professional front desk staff to the bellmen. The bed was extremely comfortable with a plush comforter and down pillows. I highly recommend staying here to anyone who wants a luxurious and relaxing time away!

Art Deco Excellence!. One of Kansas City's most beautiful examples of Art Deco Architecture has been born again at the Hotel Phillips House. This downtown hotel is once again one of Kansas City's finest. Where other historic hotels typically have small rooms and baths, these will surprise you in their spaciousness. Though it's puzzling with such large rooms why the current reincarnation failed to set aside any two-bedded rooms, all rooms are one-bedded kings. The two-story lobby is breathtaking and the lower level, formal dinning room is very elegant and romantic. The 12st bar is casual and fun but sometimes can offer bad surburban (garage band) entertainment. The Hotel Phillips House failures in the past have always been bad management rather than the physical property itself. Let's hope this time around a quality operator is more pemanent, for the Phillips House deserves nothing less.

The "Big City" in KC. Fantastic view of the old (and soon to be new) downtown. Did the romance package ... rode the old "cage" elevator to a beautiful room, with waiting roses, chocolates, champagne ... really wow-ed the little lady. Walking distance to a jazz concert, and great steaks downstairs. This is the perfect place to getaway to the city ... and know that you aren't in the suburbs.

Use the valet parking, or you may never see your car again.
