Store has gone downhill in the 10 years I've lived here. I've lived near the Lee's Summit Wal-Mart for about 10 years now. Yeah, the store at 291 and Tudor. Anyway, it didn't used to be too bad, but over the past year or so I've noticed a significant decline in the level of service. For instance, it seems like every time I go in there, regardless of whether the store is busy or not, the checkout lines are ridiculous. The store is either really busy and all lines are 15 people deep, or the store is slow but only a couple of lanes are open, and there are 6 or 8 people in line at each lane while 10 closed checkout lanes have tumbleweeds blowing through them. Here's a hint to store management: a large number of your customers want to come in, grab one or two things, and quickly get out. I don't want to wait 10 minutes in the "Express" lane. I want an express lane to mean express. In other words, not taking people with 30 items even though the sign clearly states less than that...not stuck behind people who are still living in 1982 and writing checks for $10 purchases. it would be greatly appreciated if someone in management at this store would start watching the checkout lanes, and if you get more than 3 or 4 people per lane on average, open up some more lanes. I've seriously started to avoid this store, even though it is by far the closest general merch store near my home, just due to the poor management of customer flow. I'd rather spend the extra 5 minutes driving to Target than waiting in line. It would be nice to save the gas, though, and continue to shop here if the lines weren't so frustrating.
The familiar smiley face representing the world's largest retailer stands for dependably low prices and customer service..
