El Maguey. I went there today for lunch and i was not impressed at all . It was cold , i had to set there with my winter coat on and eat my lunch . And the food wasn't much better i had a cheese quesadilla , which wasn't to bad but the taco was lousy it was 2 tps of meat and lettuce nothing else . Verty disappointed
Not the best!!!!!. The Indep. location is terrible. I can't stand their bland food.
WOULD NEVER MISS A VISIT WHEN IN KANSAS CITY.
I am a resident of el Valle Del Rio Grande and friends, I know "Tex-Mex", authentic Mexican Food (I eat in Mexico) and "Commercial Chain Mexican Food."
I would never visit Kansas City without at least one trip to El Maguey in Independence. Mi amigo, Manuel, is a fantastic server and one who not only makes one feel at home, but who anticipates your needs/desires before you need/desire them. The friendly staff and the outstanding food make this visit one of the highlights of any trip to the midwest.. The fried Ice Cream as well as perfectly fine frozen or on the rocks margaritas compliment the Fajitas (We call them Botana) for 2 which will feed more than 2 ordinary diners.
Recommend them highly.

Go to Valley View or Raytown!. Truly - this ElMaguey is not like the others! The fodd is not as good and the staff isn't nearly as friendly. I love the Valley View and El Maguey (as illustrated by my weekly visits! Love Mexican). There you will be welcomed with a smile and good inexpensive food. This one has an attitude!
Aye' No!. The food is absolutely terrible and I cant belive I paid for it. the silverware was dirty and so was the restrooms. I will never recommend someone to eat there. My buddy was so upset with the food he just wanted to walk out.
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Mexican restaurant combines large portions with traditional recipes and offers a family-friendly atmosphere.
GOOD COMPARED TO MOST OTHERS. THERE ARE SEVERAL EL MAGUEY'S IN THE GREATER KCMO AREA. THE ONE IN LEE'S SUMMIT IS VERY GOOD. THEY KNOW HOW TO MAKE A TRADITIONAL MARGUERITA TOO!
neighborhood texmex.
Food and ambiance is typical of what you will find in neighborhood restaurants all over the Southwest.
This is working class vituals at a reasonable price, served and prepared by a predominently Spanish speaking staff. If your looking for upscale ambiance and chef prepared cusine, you're in the wrong joint
