This place is the best. MY Friend's dad owns the place so i used to go there every sunday when i was a wee boy growing up in shawnee. Since then ive moved to omaha but anytime i get the chance to go back to kansas im at bates city.

PROS: Great people, Ill always remember their cherry soda, french fries, t-shirts, price, environment, menu

Cons- I live in Nebraska and its in Kansas!!!

Best Ribs In KC!. As i was just told tonight from a Man "Mike"who Eats Ribs all over the USA,These Ribs where Great!

As I Dont get out much I trust his Judgement,He is a True BBQ Lover!

I take 9hrs and 6 types of wood to slow smoke My RIbs I sell here In PA, And many People Love my Ribs

who travel alot on Biz trips check out the places i here about and report back to me.

So I strongly suggest If you are in the Area You Must Check This Place out for Ribs!

If Mike who is the MOST Toughest Food Critic I Now Says They are as Good as Mine, That To me "A Man Who's been Doin Q for 35yrs " Has to Truly Be Great!

And Yes people Do Love and Know BBQ In Pa, But being a Army Brat I was Dragged To NC ,SC, GA,VA,MD and FLA. and Cooked BBQ for alot of top Brass!

Rock on Bates You Make True BBQ'ers Proud!

best ribs anywhere. We've eaten at both of the renowned Kansas City barbecues (Bryants, Gates). They don't hold a candle to Bates City Barbecue. As luck would have it, we live only a few miles from the place.

Best BBQ ever. It gets better every time I go. This is by far the best barbeque I've ever eaten. This is a dining experience you will greatly enjoy. Warning, the atmosphere is not that of a fine diner, but of a greasy spoon.

GOOD EVERYTHING. NICE people, GREAT SLAW< GREAT FRIES AND BEANS>>>>>GREAT BBQ TOO

The BEST place to eat on I-70 between St. Louis and KC.

Where do we take international visitors to eat? BATES CITY BBQ

Tables fill with whole families of 3 to 4 generations. These farm families living nearby know where to eat. So do the truck drives who travel a half mile off I-70

to get there.

Only drawback....no beer. But that's OK.....It's a REAL family environment.
