Reasons NOT to go to Ernie Biggs
Dueling Piano bar in Westport:
1. Missing door on one of the stalls in the ladies bathroom (Missing for AT LEAST two months.)
2. The singing is subpar at best.
3. The singing gets worse as the pianists become more intoxicated.
4. Even when you pay $20, they still probably won't play the song you requested.
5. Four out of five of the staff that we dealt with were jerks.
6. The waitress NEVER brought the water I requested for my friend. The waitress NEVER brought the water I requested for my friend.
7. The waitress never brought me change for the $5.50 drink I bought with a $10 bill. (You think you get a 45% tip for one drink?)
8. The waitress confronted the bachelorette about how little she was tipped for only two of the drinks we purchased that night.
9. The manager on duty AGREED with the waitress and her decision to confront us.
I have over 200 facebook friends who now know how much your bar sucks, EBDPB. I will continue to spread the word. Still think customer service is not important in your bar??
I will repost this some day just to continue proving my point. Please feel free to repost as well. Thank you.
full house. This is a great bar with a busy and very good looking and dressed people. The envirnment can get quite loud and packed so expect a possible wait on your drinks. When there are specials they are very cheap. If u cant take a joke DON'T go there and I DON'T want to hear you complain about it. The bouncers I have not seen but once actually use force on someone and that was outside. So dont be beligerent either. The piano players play quite a few songs and there are some you will hear more than others but overall good selection. This is the best piano bar in KC by far. oh and there is not a hotel across thE2W
Garbage. After boycotting Westport for over a year after my friend was murdered in the area, I finally caved because one of my friends was having her 21st birthday at this bar. I showed up dead sober and asked the bartender if there were any specials (it was a weeknight so even though the place was packed, I thought I'd ask.) The bartender laughed and turned and walked away. I couldn't believe it said excuse I would like a drink. He started yelling and a bouncer came over and started to pull me out of the bar. When I told him I would like to leave on my own because I didn't even want to be there he told me to "shut the fu ck up" and literally slammed my head into a concrete pillar on the way out. I don't care whose birthday it is, I am never going back to Westport, or especially this piece of shlt ever again.
What a blast.... I Love Ernie Biggs!! They have great drink specials and something different every night. Check out Tuesday night. Its a DJ night with silly cheap beer.
What a Disappointment. The piano bar seemed like a perfect choice for an evening with old friends - across the street from the hotel, near some good restaurants for dinner, and what's better than a rowdy sing-along with good friends. And at the start, that's exactly what we found - a female musician who was terrific at warming up the crowd and had a great voice to boot, and a male musician with great facial expressions and decent talent. About 30 minutes into the night, though, another guy took the girl's place. I couldn't decide what I hated most - the homophobic jibes, the random choruses of "the slut, the bitch, the whore" thrown into unrelated songs, or his lack of actual knowledge or talent (which he tried to cover up for by pulling out more crass comments). I thought that the night might recover when the girl came back with a bass (at which she was pretty good), but then that same guy pulled out an electric guitar, and cranked up the amp to the point where nobody in the room could hear a friend from less than a foot away (hello hearing loss). Combine that with the slow service, and we walked out the door without a regret.
Waste of Time. When we walked in things seemed promising. There was a man and a woman at the pianos ... she was excellent, he was funny. They sang some great songs and played off of each other well. Then she went on break and this other dude took her place. He was a crass, sexist jerk and really wasn't very talented. He could barely play any of the songs that were requested. To cover up the fact that he was a hack he kept stopping every few measures to interject one of his horrible jokes. Then they all took the stage as a band ... they were tolerable with the brightest spot being the woman on bass. Ridiculously loud - TURN YOUR AMP DOWN, WANNABE GUITAR BOY. The cocktail service was also very slow.
Loved It. I loved this place. I had the most fun here. I talk about with my friends, and we created great memories here. The enviroment was awesome. There was not anybody there that was not having a great time, The bartenders were great. I don't think i had to wait for a drink on a crowded saturday night. And the guys at the pianos were fantatastic!
Not the best time, 2nd rate piano bar. I went to Ernie Biggs expecting a great show. I was sadly disappointed. I am from Baltimore and they have a great piano bar up there. I actually saw a couple of player working at Ernie Biggs that used to play up there??It seems that they are stealing or retreading their talent from other piano bars, rather than hiring and training their own. The show was ok, but the sound and the lighting is terrible. The crowd was disengaged from the show and the service was non existent. It took forever to get a drink and the servers were not very helpful. Every time I go here it seems that they add something else to their show as to compete with the other piano bar in KC. Not original. If your looking for a great piano bar head downtown and stay away from Westport.
Editorial Review. Upscale bar filled with sing-along tunes played by professional piano players.
