Store bought, Price to high, WORST EVER!!!!.
I wish you could leave zero stars.
The first time I ate there I got the combo turkey/sausage sandwich and fries. I had about three bites and then let my partner try it and he said the same thing disgusting. Fries were old and nasty. Sweet and spicy cole slaw tasted like store bought Zarda. We left and went to sonic.
Beyond my better judgement I let my manager order from Pappa Bobs. What a mistake. We carried out for our office Christmas party.
I cant believe they actually left the Walkers (store bought) label on the potato salad. They did actually partially take the labels of the beans and cole slaw. The cole slaw was Zarda. All 3 were left in one gallon containers. Who whould open a BBQ and sell their competitors product. I could of went to price chopper and bought the same thing. The turkey was so disgusting, it was that pressed type and was discolored. The Beef Jerky/ribs were horrible. I was totally embarassed and really PISSED OFF!!! I feel cheated.
Rosco's in Edwardsville is going to put them out of business.
The workers were very nice. I fell sorry for them.
Prices too high, food is not bad though.
I should say up front that I am a former regular of Papa Bob's, I'd eat lunch there at least once a week.
Papa Bob's will never win an award for best BBQ in Kansas City, although that is expecting a little too much for this pleasantly quaint establishment in Bonner Springs.
Very friendly service makes one immediately feel like a regular. Papa Bob's fairly extensive menu of popular BBQ dishes will satisfy most tastes. The food is certainly decent, the meat is nearly always lean and, just as important, consistent: a real issue with other local joints like Gates BBQ. But it is consistently average, don't expect to be wow'ed here.
My biggest issue with Papa Bob's is the nickel-and-diming of the customer. First off, their prices are simply not in check with their competition. A regular sized brisket sandwich and fries will set you back over $10, which is what you'd pay at KC's premier BBQ restaurants (OK Joes, Gates, Jack Stack). For a small-time Bonner Springs operation with food not quite as good (or plentiful) as those other 3, this is unacceptable. Even worse, little things like extra pickles carry a charge ($1.50!!) and serving sizes on items like sides are pitifully small.
As much as I appreciated the friendliness of Bob, his wife, and his staff, I haven't been there in months. They've simply priced themselves out of the market and now I satisfy my BBQ needs elsewhere.
not impressed, not sure why people like the place.
I live near there and have made the mistake of eating there three times, twice at the restaurant and once at a festival.
I went to the restaurant and the ribs were horrible. Tougher than beef jerky, dry and burned.
The second time I went there I had to wait long enough that I wasn't hungry, but tried some of my wife's burger and it was dry and lacked flavor. It basically tasted as if it sat in a pan all day.
Then I went to their booth at a local festival and figured I would get a beef sandwich. The beef lacked texture and smoke flavor. It was basically a sloppy joe. Plus they charged 2 dollars for a can of coke, when everyone else around them charged 75 cents. I'm guessing that a good majority of their positive reviews are made by them because I can't see where this many people actually like the place.
Papa Bob's Bar-B-Que. Best Bar-B-Que I've ever had and consistantly prepared. Huge portions. You have to see this place. It is so cute and cozy, you will love it. Bob, Judy and the staff always make you feel relaxed and welcome. Worth the drive. Everything I've tried is excellent; burnt ends, turkey sandwich, smoked chicken, catfish, beans, sweet potato fries, onion rings, horseradish pickles....For sure, you won't leave hungry or disappointed.
