Disappointed
by BrEnT at Citysearch
First off, I went to the location off of Mission.
The first (and only) time I went to this place, I was struck by how Euro-cool it looked. I was also drawn in by the menu and the variety of dishes.
I was soon disappointed by the over-priced wine menu (virtually nothing under 40 bucks). We settled for some expensive bottled beer instead.
The Hawaiin butterfish gave me the runs for two days!
They just make you LOVE you came to Brookside
by Margykc at Citysearch
Avenues is a great Brookside restaurant. They really display a locally owned commitment to the neighborhood as well as providing excellent quality food. I just love this place. You can get by on their happy hour appetizer specials if you want to go on the cheap or for slightly more stay for dinner for an excellent selection of entrees. It really is one of our favorite restaurants.
- Pros: Great, friendly neighborhood restaurant with yummy food
- Cons: You need a reservation (Is that a con?)
Bunch Overrated

Difficult Parking, but to be expected in Brookside. Not much attention from the waiter, never asked how the meal was. Had to ask the hostess for silverware. Absolutely the worst Bloody Mary I've ever had tasted was like watered down tomato juice. Asked for spicy but had no flavor of really anything at all. Visited brunch bar with limited selection of foods all which look and tasted like they were from Costco. No imagination.
Order Eggs Benedict Oscar. Muffin was hard as a rock could barely cut with a knife. Asparagus was cooked al-dente, eggs were overdone with a significant absence of crab and hollandaise sauce. Very Disappointing. Also ordered Corned Beef Hash. Corned Beef was very good but this was far from hash. Consisted of chunks of Corned Beef and chunks of very dried out potatoes wit a couple piece of onion.
Nothing seemed fresh at all, pre-packaged and prepared way to early.
12.95 to fill up on sub par food $5 for the worst Bloody Mary don't think I'll be coming back for brunch but will give happy hour a dinner a try. Maybe they were just having a off day but on the positive side there was a little pleasant ambiance. Could also be a perfect example of what the food service industry is doing to keep alive. But the reviews of at least the brunch are was off -base.
- Pros: Ambiance, Pretty People
- Cons: see below

This place is fantastic. Not only a great atmosphere that is trendy and sophsicated, but the cusines are awesome! So many different choices on the menu and great wine list to go with it. Food is spectular. I love it! Best part is the staff treated us great and value is awesome. This place is definitely where your dollar will a long way!
- Pros: Choices, Wine, Service, Atmosphere, Value
