OMG my favorite vintage place in KC!. As a dedicated antique lover I go to all the one weekend monthly vintage places in Kansas City and Urban Mining is my favorite of all. I always find something new and special to take home and the prices seem to be a little better. I like a antiques from different eras and they always have the most variety of styles and eras. They are fun and creative at making old items new and useful again. Last time I got a couple of great antique architectural iron pieces, a huge mid century lamp, a redone vintage side table, and some things to put away as gifts. There's something different to see each month so I never miss i I can help it. The staff are friendly and it doesn't have a snobby vibe, and its easy to park which is so nice.
Bring a truck!. I have been twice. I should have had a truck both times. Once I found a great mid-century modern chair for only $30. The second time I got a brown metal cabinet with bronze handles and formica top for my laundry room for only $28. I always feel like I found a great deal.
A great resource. I love going to this place. Yes it is a "mine"; it isn't fancy or upscale but it is FULL of wonderful finds and the people who run it couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. It's mostly housewares but you never know what might turn up because it's different each month.
What a treasure in Westport!. The "Mine" is a huge basement filled with unusual finds and fun artsy re-dos; such a friendly, creative bunch of "Miners"...I never miss a weekend. And the prices are just too good to be true. I only want to share this because the faster they sell, the faster they refill with their unique furniture and accessories and gifts so there's more for everyone!
Green, Clever & oh so affordable!. unlike the other comments i just read here.....i find this unique store something i look foward to haunting frequently. it is loaded with the subtle and sublime in all things wonderful for the home and garden! the energy and staff is upbeat and super friendly. because they are open only one weekend a month it's like waiting for christmas morning each month. creativity abounds. the prices are fantastic. recycled furnishings at their best!
Lots of dirty junk. You could pick it off the curb and save yourself the trouble of visiting this dirty store. There have been some creative repurposed things now and then, but nothing you couldn't do yourself. Over all, the place keeps cycling downward. Vendors don't stay and the owner is NOT a customer friendly person.
