Nick & Jakes great food in the Northland. Nick & Jakes in Parkville is one of the finest restaurants in the Greater Kansas City area. The first thing one notices are the pretty hostesses who are friendly and helpful. The next thing of note is the highly professional and competent wait staff. In addition, the owners and managers make it a point of speaking with customers, even on a busy night. They have a separate, well appointed dining room that is separate from their "sports bar" and where us non-smokers can avoid the lethal haze and have an enjoyable meal and good conversation with friends and family. The food is great and the portions are ample; their Sunday brunch is unparalleled.

The only negative is that they sometimes offer Patagonian toothfish (aka Chilean sea bass) and swordfish, both of which environmentally responsible restaurants assiduously avoid. To their credit, they do off tilapia which is a domestically raised cichlid originally from Africa.

Great food in the Restaurant, and on the other side a great sports bar. This is the Nick and Jake's up north in Parkville. If you are looking for good above average food this is a great place to eat. Both the regular menu and their nightly specials are very good and well presented. They also have a great sports bar, best set of bartenders in the KC area. They can handle pretty much any drink you throw at them, can give you suggestions if you are undecided. Come here more than once and they will probably remember your name. The entire wait staff is actually exceptional. I've sampled everything on the menu at least once, favorites include the pork chop, the fillet sandwich and the asian chicken salad. Monday night rib special is a treat as well! The sports bar will be loud if there is any kind of crowd, which is most nights. If you are looking for something quieter definitely stay on the restaurant side. On prime nights there will probably be a wait for a table in the restaurant and the bar is likely to be standing room only. If there is a big game on standing room may even be in short supply!

In short its a great staff, great food and great drinks.
