Excellent Dinner. I'd heard a few good reviews of Korma Sutra before visiting KC with friends. We walked in starving and tipsy, and had a really terrific meal. The naan was top-notch, the jasmine rice was lovely. The soup, pakora and samosas were great. All three of our entrees were delicious and presented well, and the end-of-meal tea and mango ice cream were just perfect. Couldn't have been happier.

This is a restaurant?. OK - so I never have been able to understand why local Indian restaurants never can understand service expected in American restaurants. First of all, there is never a server assigned to tables - seems like everyone can come and take your order and take care of you. However, usually no one does.

I went to Korma Sutra. The table they pointed me to had been used but they did not bother to clean it. When I requested it to be cleaned, they said - the person before you did not eat but was for take out. The stains of the tea he/she drank apparently were a non-issue to the staff.

Then someone took my order. It included Pepsi that never came. The waiter then came with a toothpick with a vegetable pakora on the other end and just handed it to me. No plates, no serving spoons - nothing. Same for the end of the meal ice cream on a stick which was inserted on my carry out box when I went to the restroom to wash my hands. Are these guys kidding me? This is a restaurant? And of course, no one came to ask how my food was. Neither did my server even bother to give me the check. It came via an assistant who fills water in glasses and bangs them on the table every time.

My suggestion to the management of this place is to train their staff. The restaurant is not cheap and certainly pricey given the quality and taste of the food (but I will not get into that since that is a matter of personal preferences). Additionally, I asked if the Biryani was a dum biryani (a different way of making it, where rice an dmeat are layered instead of mixing it all up). The guy did not know the difference when I asked. The staff needs to be courteous, knowledgeable - and most importantly - know their asisgned tables and take care of the customers.

WHY?. This place replaced a very good retro cafe, why? Are there THAT many people that like food from India? I looked up a diner on line (can't remember the name of the place) with THIS address. I walked into the place on a Wed @ 12:15pm (middle of the lunch rush) & the place was empty! The employees were sitting around talking & smoking. They looked at me & snarled, like I was interupting them. After about 30 seconds someone came out, from the back of the place & asked if they could help me. I guess the employees sitting at the table didn't speak English. I inquired about the diner & they said that that place USED to be here & wanted to know if I wanted to try their food. When I found out it was Indian & Pakastani I said NO thank you & left. Maybe if the place was still a diner, they might have had some customers eating there? This place must be busy during the evening?

This area (north of the Plaza needs MORE Buffets & basically more REGULAR food places! How about a Pizza Buffet (Godfathers?) or an Italian Spaghetti place or a Chili Place (Hello, Dixon's Chili)... I get tired of having to grab lunch at McD, BK, Wendys & Gates, etc. ALL OF THE TIME!! There are approx. 5,000 to 10,000 people that work in, or near, this area & only about 2-3 dozen restaraunts. So at lunch most of the places are SO PACKED with people, that you can't get in to the place! I waited in line "Outside" Joe's Pizza by the Slice, one day for more than 30 minutes, before I had to "give up" I go back to work Hungry, failing to make it to the counter to order!

sooo good!. we stopped into korma sutra kind of by accident, because we had a coupon, but we left completely happy and fully stisfied! we chose the dinner for 2 which was complete with 2 different appetizers, soup, 2 entrees, rica and naan bread, and dessert. everything was really great. the apps were hot and fresh, the coconut soup amazing, the lamb saag and chicken tika masala perfectly spiced as we asked, the dessert and chai tea, tastefully sweet. the atmosphere is cozy and colorful. the waiters were attentive. truly a great meal for the price, even without our coupon :) we will return again and again!
