Inconsiderate and Unethical Business Practices

Contacted owner, Mr. Joe Watson, to move contents of one bedroom condo from Kansas City to Nashville during the last part of June. We agreed on a price and he came up to view contents. Said he had another job that he was loading and taking to Denver but would be back to load my daughters belongings on Saturday July 2nd and then have them in Nashville Sunday afternoon. Told him that I was going to drive down with daughter on Friday, take my holday weekend, to meet him on Sunday and help her unpack and get settled then drive back on Wednesday. While on road on Friday I called and spoke to Mr. Watson to see what time he would be there so I could get the freight elevator reserved and he said not before 11 am. So I did reserve elevator and had someone there to meet him at noon but by 1:30 no one showed up so person had to leave. I then called him to give all relevant info only to get a voice mail. I called again 2-3 times on Sat., again on Sunday and then again on Monday the 4th of July all to which I received voice mail! All the time I'm sitting in a motel waiting on the goods to be delivered or at least a call so I could do whatever. It ended up that he never called once so I drove back on Wednesday without anything done. During this time someone else was to move into the condo once boxes were packed on Sat., especially since they informed thier apt. manager that they would be out accordingly. Many people were put out not only a good amount of money, time, missed work, much grief and the fact of other missed movers! This is all do to CW & Sons not following through with their verbal contract and the inconsiderate and unethical business conduct of their owner, Mr. Joe Watson. So much for the "firemen owned" ploy since it might be a reputable profession but his word not so!

Mover Beware - Think Twice!

Do not be fooled by the low moving quote!

We were quoted $95/hr. The day of our move, the movers were almost 2 hours late! We were told the truck was down and they had to rent one. When they finally arrived, they moved things pretty quickly, but they were not careful. They began stacking multiple boxes on the dolly and failed to read the labels. It didn't matter if the box said "fragile, glass or do not stack."

When we arrived at our new place, I noticed that some things had been damaged. However, they failed to tell me that they had damaged my items. When I pointed out the damage to one of the movers, he told me "Phil" the other mover had damaged the items." When I confronted Phil, he had an excuse for everything.

After the truck was unloaded, he quoted me a price that was more than double what Joe, the owner had quoted me. He tried to charge me for the rental of the truck, the time it took him to drive to my house and he tried to charge me for an additional hour. I reminded him that Joe told me the $95/hr included the use of the truck, two movers, gas and drive time. I called Joe while Phil was still there, but he didn't answer.

After telling Phil that he was trying to "get over on us, he finally, said "ok, I will take it" [the agreed upon amount] and he left our home.

Joe never returned my call. When I spoke with him initially, he jokingly told me "not to call him if there was a problem." I laughed thinking he was joking, now I know he wasn't.

I would never use this company again. Also, if possible have someone present with you at the end of the move. These guys are sketchy, there is no telling what they could try.

Great Company

Based upon my experience, I highly recommend CW & Sons. Although they were a little late,(About 15 minutes) the young men were very nice, respectful, and were very careful with my belongings. They worked steadily, and even gave suggestions on where to place my furniture, and placed it where I wanted. They were very reasonably priced, and I have recommended them to several people and will use them in any future moves.

• Cons: Can't think of one....

Bad Business Practices

The worst business practices I have ever experienced. We booked the move two weeks in advance they told us they would be here at 1:00 PM. and never showed up. They told us at 4:00 that no matter what time the owner promised us they would be here to move even if they move before us took until 10:00 at night. They made us wait all day lying to us promising they would be here. I told them at if they couldn't do it to tell us and we could just call someone else. The owner of the business Joe Watson gave me his word that they would be here. They wait until 7:00 PM to tell us the truth that they would not come at all after waiting all day for them to show up. I informed the owner that online his reviews said that he had a history of treating customers this way. Now my elderly parents have no where to sleep as it is in the evening and I cannot do anything about it this late in the evening. I would advise that you should think twice before booking them to move even though they are cheaper (now I know why their moving price was so cheap). So if you value your time, you are better off paying more money for movers that are more professional and trustworthy that will not waste your time. I informed him I would turn him in to the Business Bureau so he would not due this to other people it is Bad Business and is not right to treat people this way. So Please, Please if you work, have loved ones, and want trustful movers do not hire them.

Lacks courtesy

I called and spoke with the owner about my move. I shared with him that I had read a couple reviews that were not positive about his company and that I was confused because one of my friends had used his company a few years past and raved about his workers. He told me that he couldn't please everyone and that he had plenty of business. I wasn't real excited about his answer but I figured that I caught him off guard with bringing up the bad reviews.

We scheduled an appointment for him to come by and look at my stuff to make an estimate for 9am on a Saturday. He NEVER showed up. I called him at 10am and 11am to see if maybe he was running late and I got no reply. He never even called.

As he said, he has enough business so I guess he didn't need mine. I just don't think that I would ever treat anyone with such little respect. It's too bad because I'm sure his workers are nice people. But I will go out of my way to tell everyone I know, work with or run into on the street how poorly he treated me.
