One of the Coolest Stores in Kansas City. I have shopped at VR for several years and it just keeps getting better. Best and widest selection of quality of vinyl in town. The audio equipment is to die for with some of the best brands being made. I bought a used McIntosh receiver from them about a year ago and it operates perfectly. The store's staff understands music and are not just equipment geeks, so the advice you get on equipment is based on how well it does music not just the latest fad.

Vinyl Renaissance is a great record/audio store.

Poor customer service, incompetent electronics repair. I highly recommend you steer clear of the vintage electronics in this shop. I purchased a Technics SA-303 from them for $95. I can't complain about it being overpriced (though it was) since I was willing to pay it, but when I got it home the unit did not work. There was no sound out of the left channel.

The man who sold it to me said they had a 30 day refund policy, however when I tried to return it (the next day) he told me I could only exchange it for store credit. I had to argue for quite awhile before he reversed the charge on my debit card.

Needless to say, the customer service certainly leaves a lot to be desired. Just read the other reviews here about their terrible staff. Don't expect any friendly smiles in this record store and STAY AWAY from those lovely vintage appliances on the shelf – they very likely were not properly serviced.

Issues with selling practices. I bought a piece of equipment from him that was stated to be in perfect working condition, it was not. The item was supposed to have been tested by them, and it was not. It will cost me near $300 to get this unit into the condition it was represented to be in at the time of the sale. The owner and employees have consistently been unpleasant to deal with. I couldn't in good conscience recommend that anyone shop there unless you just enjoy getting treated poorly while spending your hard-earned money. This is quite unfortunate as I am a vintage audio collecter and hobbyist, as well as a vinyl lover. I would have loved to have been able shop there as they do have a great collection of vinyl, however, it's just not worth the trouble. I would rather have fewer records than shop in a store where they can't be bothered to be pleasant to their customers.

vinyl renaissance in shawnee ks. While the selection may be great as well as the quality of everything, the staff definitely needs more manners. They aren't that friendly and, act like your on "their" time. Don't expect to get much back for selling a near perfect record either. They're only going to turn around and mark it way up, leaving the seller as if they got the bad end of the deal.

Best Record Store in KC. Easily the best record store in Kansas City with plenty of rare and out of print used CDs and records in great condition.
