Tips for Bead Shop

Overpriced and very unfriendly. Common merchandise.. This store when it opened was a pleasant experience. Now, since the owner took over the other bead shop in Overland Park, the staff is unfriendly and the merchandise commonplace and overpriced. I refuse to give my business to someone who is plainly taking advantage of the fact the her shops are two of three in the middle of Johnson County. Since I sell jewelry, I have taken my business to other shops in the Kansas City area and to sellers that I trust online. Shame on the owner for jacking up prices, and having rude prople to represent her shop. Buyer beware....shop elsewhere!!!

Not Helpful!. I did not enjoy The Bead Shop.

I am not a jewelry maker myself. And apparently Beginners are not welcome! I went there today to make a simple beaded necklace.

I picked out my beads and asked the lady there if I could have it strung there (I have tried to do this myself before just to have them fall apart so I went 30 min out of my way to go to a specialty "Bead Shop" to have it done for me)

She looked at me like I was speaking a different language and gave me a series of excuses that all made me feel like she thought I was Stupid for not knowing anything about making jewelry and that she wishes I would just GO away. So, I did go away and bought nothing.

I'm really sad because This would have been a very special gift for my hard working husband.

I guess next time I will just go to HOBBY LOBBY.

Unhappy. I have a specific bracelet I'm trying to re-create for a friend. I'd heard about this store from a friend and decided to check it out and see if it had exactly what I was looking for.

My first impression when I walked in was that the selection wasn't much bigger than what I'd seen at the chain hobby stores.

I also couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I picked up a few things hoping something would work once I found the rest of my necessary pieces and I'd return what didn't.

Two days later I go back to the store with the peices I couldn't use. Still strung, still had the tags on, reciept in hand, and even the plastic bag they placed them in. And I was told "we don't do returns." I asked "Not at all?" and got "Not at all." in response. No explanation, no offer for exchanges (which I've now learned they don't do either).

I was so angry. No one told me while I was checking out, and the clerk, who was very helpful otherwise, knew that I was unsure of my purchases. So I felt like she had ample opportunity to warn me.

This is poor business. I won't be going back and I'm telling anyone who will listen not to buy their beads or other supplies there.

Disappointing. I recently started creating jewelry from exotic woods and needed some gold bails for pendants.. Well, I stopped by this shop and they had a little package of 4.. about a dollar a piece... OK... I bought them... after getting home I find they are too small for my needs. So I thought....OK...Maybe they have something else that will do..... After I get there I find out they do NOT refund OR exchange!!! Now I could understand if I was buying underwear......but I'm not! They do have a sign I missed... AT THE VERY back of the store.

Most stores that do this sale very shoddy merchandise and usually end up out of business very quickly. It may be a little thing, but just to make a point I will not spend a nickel at this store again... AND have already started telling everyone I see at other stores of this practice. :)

Gem in Kansas City. I just recently started beading. Took a class at The Bead Shop and I was hooked. Have gone to every bead shop in the metro area and this is by far my fave!

The service is really good. They help you find just the right beads and they have it all. The gemstones are absolutely gorgeous and they have lots of beautiful glass beads. The selection of sterling, which I love, is better than any other store. And the prices on their silver is below anyone else's that I have found.

I will be shopping in this store as long as my beading addiction continues!!

They always seem to have a great sale going at any given time.
