Poorly executed industrial seafood. My wife and I used to be occasional guests at Red Lobster in Colorado. After almost 10 years, we visited this Overland Park location for lunch. What a disappointment. We both ordered the Seafood Grill: lobster tail, scallops and shrimp. It came with wild rice, mashed potatos, a salad and their greasy cheese biscuits. We both ordered the Ceasar Salad and there was not enough dressing on it. The main meal came and it was almost unedible. It had obviously been processed with flavorings to simulate a char grilled result. This made it incredibly salty and made it taste like bacon drippings. For anybody who has had grilled lobster or grilled shrimp, you know that there is a distinctly sweet taste. My wife ordered a Margarita and complained that there was no alcohol in it. To add to our disppointment, both of us had intestinal distress about 2 hours later complete with all the accompanying side effects...This was the first and last time at this Red Lobster It will likely be a long time until we visit another one of these Industrial Mass Production Seafood Restaurants again. We will stick with tried and true favorites like Bristol, McCormick and Schmicks and Bonefish Grill.
Casual crustacean-inspired chain serves up diet-defying seafood dishes in a family-friendly environment..
In Short
Live lobsters wriggle in a tank inside this seafood emporium, where nautical-patterned booths and colorful, fish-shaped tables in the bar area add subdued touches of whimsy to the room's classy dark wood accents. The menu can be downright decadent, with starters of artichoke lobster dip, seafood fondue, and crab-stuffed mushrooms. Entrees feature lighter, grilled fare like mahi-mahi and North Atlantic sea scallops, along with signature lobster dishes, snow crab legs, and jumbo fried shrimp platters.
