Locally Owned Coffee Shop.
Hattie's Fine Coffee in Corinth Square is a nifty little place. The atmosphere is peaceful, the staff helpful, and the selection is varied without being overwhelming. I must admit, I can't stand coffee, but they brewed an exceptional cup of green tea for me this morning. So good that I almost shed a tear when my cup was empty good. The selection of pastries is another admirable quality of this little gem. They have something to appeal to any taste, all of it fresh and delicious.
Hattie's is not a place you go just to get a cup of coffee, its a place you go to enjoy the experiences involved in that deeply cherished morning tradition. I'm not calling their service slow, because they aren't. They are an attentive and prompt bunch; but its definitely not a human conveyor belt type of place. While my green tea was brewing, I had time to sit down, take in the decor, listen to the sounds of cups clinking, coffee brewing, people having quiet conversations of greeting, not to mention the delightful smell of roasting coffee. It was a good experience to start my morning with, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to get away from the Starbucks crowd.
Hattie's Fine Coffee.
This business changed ownership in April of 2010. A young couple, David and Gretchen now own it, and one of them is almost always there. David is a 2001 graduate of SME and KU. Gretchen attended SMS and graduated from UMKC.
They have upgraded the service and expanded their products. They now serve a lunch on Monday thru Saturday (sandwiches and soup) and have upgraded their pastries as well.
They are also taking reservations for book club meetings or other small meetings. Try their fresh roasted coffee. It makes a great holiday gift. When you visit them, you are supporting a locally owned business owned by people in the neighborhood.
plus from me. I think this is a great little coffee shop. Not only do they roast their own beans, but the service is great and in my opinion severely overlooked in Prairie Village, Kansas. I'm no expert, but I know what I like and this is it!!
Great local place. Great little coffee shop. They roast their own beans, and you can really tast e the difference! If you are in the are you have to go by.
Now that was terrible. Do yourself a big favor and drive right past this place. Barista's couldn't make a good latte if their life depended on it! The owner can't even make a good drink. Not sure is she can even brew coffee much less anything else. This place just needs to close it's doors and go away.
