Craving Chinese, I visited Fire Wok for lunch at 11:30 today. Located in downtown Mission in a run-down strip, it seemed really dingy from the outside. However, some of the best places to eat are described as "whole in the wall" so I went in. I was surprised at how reasonably priced the lunch buffet was; $7.82 will get you all you can eat and a drink. However, the quality of the food soon provided an explanation for the low price. The hot and sour soup was strangely sweet. The crab rangoon was dry and the only flavor I could discern was of cream cheese. The egg rolls had an overpowering cabbage flavor and were kind of slimy. Nearly all the dishes available were chicken, with only a couple of seafood and beef dishes. The chicken dishes offered were 80% fried (sweet and sour, orange peel, general tso's etc), and all of the chicken pieces in those dishes seemed to be from the same frozen box, just with different sauces on them. There was a scallop dish, which, on hind-sight, I should have known better than to try. It tasted nauseously fishy and I spit out the one bite I took for fear of spending the afternoon in the bathroom.

I would never eat here again, nor can I recommend it to anyone. Even seasoned buffet eaters should avoid this place.

Be careful Con Artists!. If you use a debt or credit card they will over charge you! You must check your account to make sure they haven't given themselves a HUGE tip!

Fantastic Chinese Food!. Today was my first visit to this restaurant. I can say without a doubt that Fire Wok has the best chinese buffet food that I have had in the Kansas City area. You will especially love this place if you like sweet chinese food items. Even the hot and sour soup was alittle bit sweet. I highly recommend the food. The atmosphere is standard chinese buffet fare. My only complaint would be the parking. Almost all of the parking around the restaurant has time limits like 15 min. Lunch time can be a challenge to park. However even a two block walk is worth it!

Soooooo Bad. Seriously, the other reviews must be from the owners. Everything was terrible, staff was nice, parking sucked.

The only Chinese buffet. Nothing compares to this place. I hate any other chinese buffet. Everything tastes perfect and yes the crab rangoon is THE BEST! I've never had seating issues, but I eat dinner there not lunch. The staff is great. I've taken people here who won't go back to any other place.

Avoid everyday. Honestly, i've never walked away from a buffet. Worst chinese i've ever had. I would not recommend eating here.

One of the best Chinese buffets around. Happened to be driving by this place the other night and we stopped to eat. Neat location in downtown Mission, but parking isn't great.

Restaurant had a nice atmosphere?one reviewer called it romantic?and the food was all very good. This place was much bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside! I was particularly impressed with their General's Chicken and Crab Rangoon?the two measuring sticks of any buffet, in my mind. Interestingly, their General's Chicken featured the name of some general other than General Tso?the name you usually see at Chinese buffets.

Price was reasonable and included soda pop (fill your own) and the staff was friendly. Please note that you pay before being seated and there was no soft-serve ice cream machine.

REVISION: I'm dropping to four-stars just because we eat here all the time and I've come to wish they had more variety. They have added ice cream. Still a very good buffet, but I can imagine better. As for the user who complained about the overcharge on the credit card, I've had the "authorization" charge be higher than the price, but by the time it clears the bank it's always the right amount ? don't know why this happens. They often cross out the tip section on my credit card receipt, so I can't imagine them trying to "inflate" tips.

De Best Chinese in Johnson County. Fire Wok the food just melts in your mouth and it's always hot and fresh. Now thats what I call family dinning. Parking could be better. It has a romantic setting.

best buffet. great buffet, fresh and tasty, quicker setting would make it better
