Damaged Furniture
by bluescrew at Citysearch
I have used Father and Son moving 4 times. The first three times, they were the best moving company I have ever used. The last time was a horrible experience.
They showed up late and worked slow and it cost double what the other moves cost me. (same amount of furniture)
They damaged my very expensive coffee table and it's beyond repair.
Damage ***Do Not Use This Company***
by kissytater at Citysearch
Movers RIPPED my kitchen floor and now the company says they don't cover floors and walls.. It could have been prevented if they would have wheeled the refrig over to its area then pushed it back..but instead they took it off the 2 wheeler and rolled it across my kitchen and turned it as they were rolling it , ripped my new floor in 6 places...I filed a claim and all they could say is oh well sorry but we dont cover floors and walls .. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY .. also they charged me extra fees for dicking around with the patio door which shouldnt have happen anyways.. they should have brought the refrig thru the front door , but instead they took up the back stairs to the patio doors which were only 30inches which and so they decided to remove the second panel and it would not come out so he removed the glass from the frame . and then wheeled the refrig thru the door and took off the dolly and rolled my refrig across the floor..big mistake on there part.. extra fuel charges and said they would give a discount then time came and oh well that is added in automatically ..
Great Job

Thank you for sending me a wonderful crew to move my 87 year old mother into assisted living. Sam and the two fellows with him were very polite and treated her belongings with great care and respect. I will be sure to recommend your company to all who need moving services. Thanks for a job well done.
- Pros: Fast, Reliable,Courteous and affordable

damage/fuel surcharge not disclosed
by linda890 at Citysearch
Not only did they ding my piano good because they forgot their piano dolly, they took the "long" way to my new location, adding 30 minutes at $99/hr. Then while unloading, they want their money which turns out to be significantly higher than any part of their quote and which also had a 23% fuel surcharge added on. Now my initials are not next to this surcharge, like they are everywhere else on fees on the contract - BECAUSE THIS SURCHARGE WAS NOT THERE ORIGINALLY! Nor was it ever mentioned in any of the emails setting up this move. But guess what - you pay the full fee or else they take your furniture - and then charge you daily storage plus a fee to get it out of storage. And then they didn't pay for any of the 3 damaged items because they said it fell under their $500 deductible. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND VERY DISHONEST.
- Pros: none at all
- Cons: nondisclosed surcharges, damage to furniture
Mover BEWARE!
by clinsenm at Citysearch
To start, when the movers arrived, they suggested I call and cancel my reservation so they could "do the job on the side" for less. So I was leary from the start. I had used Father & Son moving two times in St. Louis and had good experience, but the last time in Aug. 2007 it was a nightmare; apparently they are under new ownership, acc. to the movers.
The phone quote didn't match the quote when the movers arrived & once that had been detemined the price increased again after they were finished. They tried to scam me by charging a fuel charge that wasn't on the contract I had signed and I was never quoted that prior to the final payment time. They used a different contract to show me it was legit (yeah right). Second, they changed the price of mypiano move 3 times, saying I'd been quoted for a different size piano (not true I was very specific) and finally they wanted extra cash for some larger items that "weren't included in the quote because of their special nature." They also kept avoiding writing these extra fees on the contract and it was pretty clear they intended to pocket the money, or at minimum not declare it. I refused to pay some of the "hidden" charges, and there was a confrontation. Not pleasant. I still lansded up paying more than I should have (and it was expensive) and had to put up with their foul language and lloiud behavior on top of the whole unpleasant experience.
I would NEVER recomment them. BEWARE. They were dishonest and the worst moving experience ever (and I've used allot of different movers).
- Pros: Nothing worth the trouble
- Cons: Dishonest
