First Fridays are when the sometimes-neglected downtown is the most welcoming, crowded and seems the most metropolitan. Participating vendors include everything from upscale galleries focused on high-priced portfolios to artist co-ops exhibiting edgy, new work in tiny studios. Many of downtown's unique shops stay open later for the crowds as well. A free trolley service will take you from stop to stop so you don't have to walk across town.

Colorful,Interesting, Exciting, and Fun but wear your walking shoes.
This is a great way to see some of the artists of Kansas City and what all of those shops down town do. With a Wide variety of art from almost every medium and genre that you can think of and some that you NEVER thought of. From Paintings to Photography, From Classic to...Well...There is no possible way to describe some of the works. You'll even find street performers playing music and or dancing, adding to the ambiance. This brings a sampling of New York to the heart of Down Town Kansas City. Perfect for a first date, Great for an outing with friends. Even fun for the kids. You can eat first at one of the hundreds of restaurants downtown, and then a short walk to one of the first galleries. Following the crowds of people is always a great way to find the shops that are not even on the map. I always come away from FIRST FRIDAYS feeling inspired. Enjoy a VERY colorful evening.
