Charismatic waiters and excellent food..
After having been to Bistro 303 several times, I can attest to the quality of the food and the charisma that exudes from the waiters. The portions are perfect--not too much, not too little. The food is cooked fresh and, for a change, this restaurant allows for certain substitutions when necessary. The waiters are not robots--they are charming and do their best to make your dining experience memorable.
It would be helpful if there were options in seating. The tall stools are not always the most comfortable for the middle-age plus group, but it does not overshadow the overall great experience of Bistro 303.
Still open??.
It seems they are no longer open for lunches.
We drove over today, and the doors were locked and the place empty.
I guess they are still open at night??
Best lunch in KC!. Seven of my girl friends met at Bistro 303 last Saturday for lunch. Having never been there before and really having never heard of the place, we had no idea what to expect. Let me just say that we are all still talking about it! We had a great seat by the window, the nicest waiter ever and food that was spectacular. It seemed that each dish had an interesting flair to it. For example, unlike your traditional house salad, their house salad was mixed greens, pears, hazelnuts and gorganzola cheese. Delightful! The soup du jour was a red pepper tomato bisque with just a bite of habenero. It was to die for. We sampled two different gourmet pizzas -- both were unbelievable. I can't wait to go there again and again. And I can't wait to try it for dinner.
This eatery is a lunch bistro by day and a martini bar by night..
The Scene
Square glasses and weighty silverware adorn the cluster of tables in a smallish square room--just right for a Westport lunch crowd. Floor to ceiling mirrors add light and depth; a vintage French portrait hangs in the overhead nook, and French moldings give the room its life. At night the tables are pushed back and a who's who of Kansas City martini drinkers amass around the bar.
The Food
During the weekday 303 boasts delectable sandwiches; the 303 club is piled with turkey and smooth brie, and the famous croque monsieur with heaps of ham and cheese. Other options include a cheese pizza sprinkled with feta, and a few salads. The creme brulee has just the right crunch and smoothness. On Saturday, 303 has one menu item--and lucky you if it happens to be the spicy chocolatey chicken mole.
