In Short – Nestled in the corner of a strip mall, this bistro has a muted Mexican decor. The door and wood paneling is left over from a former steakhouse tenant, and the portraits of Frida Kahlo seem more like afterthoughts. Food is the enticement here. The menu is literally split down the middle: traditional taqueria items, like tacos and enchiladas, on the right--and the chef's specialties, like tender salmon marinated and wrapped in a banana leaf, on the left. For $5, a server will make delicious guacamole in front of your table.

THIS FAB FAMILY RESTAURANT IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE KANSAS CITY MEXICAN. I LOVE IT AND I EAT THERE WEEKLY. MAYAS HAS GREAT DRINK AND FOOD SPECIALS.
A SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF AND OWNERS THAT REMEMBER YOUR NAME.
DON'T EXPECT CHEESY FAST MEXICAN FOOD, ALL FRESH INGREDENTS AT MAYA'S AND THEY SMOKE THEIR SALSA. THE BLACKENED FISH TACOS ARE GREAT AND THE MARGARITAS GO DOWN SMOOTH ESPECIALLY ON TUESDAY WHEN THEY ARE $3. DID I MENTION THEY MAKE THE GUAC AT YOUR TABLE.
ITS NOT ONLY MY HUSBAND AND I THAT LOVE MAYAS THE KIDS CAN'T GET ENOUGH CHEESE DIP, AND MAYAS IS SUPER FAMILY FRIENDLY, BUT WE ALSO LOVE GOING LATE WITHOUT THE KIDS AND HAVING A GLASS OF WINE ON THE PATIO. I SAY IT IS A MUST VISIT.

When I arrived at Mayas the service was very substandard with an aloof waiter who didnt even know the menu. I ordered some fish tacos and a pork soft taco and it is safe to say that I was really unhappy with both. I am typically NOT a complainer...look at my other reviews, and I am not mad about it but I just wouldnt waste your time here with so many good options out there.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME is the simple message here. These people think they have it figured out and it is clear that they wont be in business for long.
Did i mention Manny's or Los Corrals...the more I think of it the more this place is an absolute JOKE...happy dining..
