Ruined Valentines Day - 2010.
Unfortunately my Valentines day dinner for my wife was ruined by very unsatisfactory food at City Tavern Saturday night. My wife ordered the Mixed seafood grill and received 1 scallop, 1 small piece of dry salmon and few shrimp for $26.00. Oh by the way it was also luke warm. When told about the situation the waitress took it back and brought the same dish back out slightly warmer. Unfortunately when you reheat quickly seafood and rice you only make it worse. At no time did the manager come over to discuss the situation. We were given complementary dessert. No offer to comp the real problem--my wife's dinner. We can write-off City Tavern for ourselves and all of our friends

What's Old is New Again.
This place has had more lives than Clinton's cat, but I still love it. The new chef and his new menu are by far the best City Tavern has produced thus far. They really have found themselves. The oysters, as always, are over the top. The Colorado lamb is the best I have had anywhere. The red trout is delicious as well. Still the most beautiful dining room in Kansas City.
